nice location

Stopped at this nice pub to check out the menu for future visits, the menu was quite large and reasonably priced. I enjoyed some of the real ale on sale here and the bar staff were friendly.

Well, what a transformation. The Cross Keys was a popular local watering hole of mine many years ago with a good reputation for food also. In recent years it however ran downhill and finally closed a few years ago. So, it was a nice surprise to find it reopened with sympathetic and tasteful decoration making a very inviting place to... The Cross Keys which I had two Sunday lunches there is pleasant atmosphere and pleasant staff. I had two roast beef dinners and they were excellent and piping hot. They make sure you are ok and then leave you alone. No quibble at all.

appalling food. I really couldn't explain what I was served. There was no apology given for the food, or explanation. Staff friendly and pleasant but the food I was served left a lot to be desired. As the pub is in a remote location and is newly opened, more attention should be given to providing excellent food, to encourage people... More

We visited as it was recommended to us, and we weren't disappointed. We had booked a table and had the choice of the bar menu, Limones the Italian Restaurant and the homemade pizzas. We had a lovely meal of cod and chips followed by a pudding each - presentation of the sweets was very pretty and just as tasty. A... More

The Cross Keys in Upper Chute is in business again, thanks to the passion and commitment of Jane & Gerry Wheeler, leaders of the Upper Chute 'Save our Pub' campaign. Booked a table here for Sunday lunch last month. Sadly I cannot comment on the food as we didn't stay long enough to sample any. The service was appalling; rude and surly waitress and one young man behind the bar who appeared to wish he was somewhere else. Eventually shown to our table complete with sticky and dirty place mats.... More
