Epic food!

The food at The Rock Inn is great - all cooked to order I believe and to perfection. We had a feast!

We stopped for lunch and and a burger and ploughman's which, although not cheap, tasted really good. However, I was quite appalled to see how the management treated a mature couple who had come in shortly after us. They had spent some time deciding on their meal, but were still well within the serving times for lunch (both by my... More

We had booked for a long weekend in early May 2013. The check-in was unwelcoming at best. Our rushed evening meal was very average, my bubby did pretty well with pigs cheek but I on the other hand got a very soggy fish. When I mentioned this, I was met with aggression. Due to the sudden death of a close... More

Having eaten at the Rock Inn for more years than I can remember, I am extremely dissapointed to find that Matt is no longer there. On shopping trips from Barnstaple to Taunton it was a must to stop and try some of the delicious food on offer, which never dissapointed. We have been in twice since the change of owners,... More

We recently visited this pub recently on a friends recommendation and was pleased we did. We had the beer battered fish and chips, they were well presented and cooked to perfection. Fab chips! We were welcomed by a warm smile and chatty barmaid. We were on our way to visit friends on Exmoor and plan to return next time in... More

We have been regulars at the Rock Inn for some years. We both opted for the fish and. Chips, which in the past have always been fabulous. We have been in twice since the new owners took over, and on both occasions were bitterly disappointed with the food , also the welcome was non-existent and chaotic to say the least.... More

Food was not bad, just not very good for the high prices charged, we asked for the Berger on sourdough bread, and got it on a cheap bun.waitress service was fine. But the dippy barmaid was very poor need to go on a customer skill course.

The said bread bun is a sourdough bread bun, baked at local Bawdens bakers in Bampton and is a soft version so that it can be eaten with a burger. It comes as an excellent platter including tripple cooked chips and homemade chutney for £9.95. However, when asked not to lean back on the antique chair, you did and you... More

We lived in this area for a year and it was wonderful to discover this pub. We ate there many times trying different dishes and it was always very good, i particularly love the Pigeon, black pudding salad with a bowl of amazing tasty crunchy " real" chips... Wish I could go there tonight. The choice of drinks is good... More

When booking our accommodation in Somerset, the proximity of the Rock Inn and the fact that dogs were welcome, helped us to decide that Waterow would be a perfect location. We arrived at the Rock Inn on our first evening without a reservation and the positive is that we were found a table in the tiny deserted bar area. We... More

SORRY YOU DIDN'T ENJOY YOUR THREE VISITS! There are lots of venues in the area that I'm sure would have welcomed your footfall. Your dog must have been a big dog, it's always a difficult balance in a bar with customers that have come in for a quiet meal and may not want to enjoy your charming pooch. And it... More

Just made it for lunch last weekend and got our order in at 2pm and again the Rock served us great food once more. Whilst my fiancee, dieting for our wedding, decided only to have the soup (delicious it was too), I opted for 2 starters (salmon pancake and grilled asparagus) and a main of grilled lemon sole. All courses... More
