First night diner

This Pub/Restaurant/B and B serves excellent food in a friendly environment. To my mind the best food in the area.

Drove through amazingly narrow country lanes to get to the Rock Inn for dinner. Busy with a lively atmosphere and when the home cooked, freshly prepared food arrived it could not be faulted. They do, however, need to ensure their table service gets slicker - rather long wait for the main course and following a request for a dessert the... More

We returned here after a 6 year gap, having had a memorable meal so long ago. We wanted to see if it was still as good. We were warmly greeted by the newish owners who have been here for two years.. It was a cold wet windy day, but inside the log fire was blazing away. I ordered beef marinated... More

My friend and I were passing and decided to stop in at the Rock Inn. What a gem! We were welcomed by the landlady Ruth and sat in the tastefully decorated restaurant. The atmosphere was so friendly and we ordered the fish chowder soup. It was amazing.....so well presented and filling. Daren who is her husband is the chef and... More

Delicious food and a very pleasant atmosphere. This is food you simply can't cook at home. The vegetarian options are outstanding - I really have no idea how Daren makes a plate of veg so tasty. We have eaten here on several occasions and recommended it to friends and our own B&B guests. They have all rated it very highly... More

We found our lunch marred by the owners wife , who , does not seem to be enjoying her role , blunt almost to the point of being rude. Why bother to go there when so many other publicans make such an effort to welcome you in these difficult times. Sadly she is in the wrong job. Unless it is better... More

Sorry that your recent visit wasn't satisfactory - I may have been overloaded with other customers when you arrived and not able to give your group the attention they deserved. A lot of people don't book at lunchtimes, and arrive at the same time and may be I could have managed the situation better. We have got something special here... More

Have been a few times but will not be returning. Such a shame as the food is actually very good but the service is so appalling it makes it not worth the visit as it is certainly not cheap. From what I can tell it is run by a husband and wife - the husband does the cooking and looks... More

Thank you for your vile posting. Who do you think you are coming into my business / home and berating me? What do you think gives you the right and just cause to assassinate me in this derogatory term. Factory worker, what did I do that was so heinous to you? Really, are you so perfect - what do you... Wow. Came upon The Rock Inn by happenstance but will certainly be back. The food was fantastic - both the pub grub dishes and the more fine dining ones. We had a combination of both - two starters of monkfish scampi and smoked salmon with cauliflower cheese fritters which the children demolished - followed by sausages, cottage pie etc. Best... More

Really enjoyed our recent stay here amidst the beautiful scenery of south Somerset. Very impressed with our newly refurbished bedroom and we had a really delicious meal in the evening in the restaurant. We met some friends for an overnight stay and would all thoroughly recommend this Inn. The owners were very friendly and helpful with everything we needed and... More
