Gastro pub food at its best

Went here with friends to celebrate my birthday. Initially I was concerned at the limited choice for a vegetarian, but I was certainly not disappointed with the quality of the food. Staff were very polite and attentive and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Will definitely return.

Had Sunday lunch here on a lovely sunny day in June. Sat outside at the front, the road is fairly quiet so its a lovely sunny spot to sit in and watch the world (and cyclists!) go by. The staff were all very friendly and chatty, and the food (2 x Roast Beef) was about the best Sunday Lunch we've... More

my husband, mother in law and i visited here on saturday 6th June 2015 for saturday lunch. The pub is cosy and in the winter with the fires be really nice. We opted for the 2 course lunch special for £10.95. The food didn't disappoint. My mother in law and I opted for the cod goujons in batter with chips... More

Well many years ago i worked here the place was always packed returned after 30 yrs not sure on decor its lost the old ambience of the place. The service was slow atbar i was on my own and got served after 2 men even though I was there first. We ordered our food and were sat at table the... More

Asked for the menus whilst sitting in the bar area, ordered from a choice of about 6 main meal choices, all rather overpriced. Only when we got called to our table did we see the specials board, which jad a much better choice at better prices. Food (lamb and risotto) was average.

Visited on bank holiday weekend for a birthday celebration The pub/restaurant itself is pleasantly, the staff friendly and professional and the menu short but well formed Sadly we seemed to get lost in the system, having bought drinks at the bar (being from Surrey I was pleasantly surprised by the drink prices), we sat in the bar area and a... Now under the control of the Pell family ( Ridgeway Bar & Kitchen ). Sadly we live in an area swamped with mediocre offerings and charging Walnut Tree prices. This place now shines like a star, best lunchtime special at £10.95 for 2 courses ( preceded by very tasty amuse bouche) in the area without a doubt. Food quality excellent,... More

Visited last Sunday for a family meal and was really impressed. Sunday lunch is pretty standard wherever you go these days but this place is a cut above. The food was delicious, good choice with a fish option if you don't want the traditional roast. The stuffed pork was really tasty! Good for kids too - portions are more than... More

We did return (little while ago but TA has a 1 review/month limit). As promised, an update. Changes: Not a great amount at first glance. The tables from the rear garden appear to have moved to the front. Hopefully some will reappear at the rear. There is no longer a cheaper bar snack type menu early evening and they no... More
