Description: The George is located on the Harbour in the heart of West Bay, Dorset. This striking Georgian building stands proudly on the harbourside of this popular fishing village, made famous by being the backdrop to the recent BBC Tv series "Broadchurch".The hotel has recently been taken over (01/10/2013) by Chris and Kim and they are busy welcoming guests new and old to The George. The hotel is open all day and serves fresh locally sourced home cooked from the restaurant, including daily specials using fish sourced from the fishing boats in the harbour. The bar serves a good selection of wines and exceptional real ales from Palmers Brewery, located a mile away in Bridport. There is plenty to do in the area, with several of breathtaking coastal walks and leisurely strolls along the beach front. There are several charter boats waiting to take keen sea fishing visitors, or a Rib taxi that will take you to nearby Lyme Regis and return a couple of hours later. Whether you are looking for a adrenalin packed weekend, or simply a relaxing break by the beautiful harbour, The George Hotel is the place to stay. Chris and Kim look forward to welcoming you to The George soon.

Great people watching stop. Good choice of beers. Restaurant fully booked, guess that says it all.would imagine parking may be a problem in summer. It's very dog and walker friendly.

Booked here last minute after being let down by another place we also found on trip advisor. We weren't disappointed, in fact we ended up being quite pleased that we'd been cancelled as the George was absolutely gorgeous. We had a friendly welcome despite them being rammed to the rafters. Locals were singing in the bar so there was a... More

Went on a Tuesday evening as a group of three. Was planning on going to Weatherspoon's but the kitchen was closed. Decided to try the George. Arrived just after 8 and noticed the car park was closed off for whatever reason. Not really an issue as there was alternative parking available. Upon entering the George we spoke to the bar... More

It as very bland with absolutely no flavour. The restaurant was not particularly busy as it was a Saturday lunchtime and we only had 6 adults in our party. We had to wait... More

We visited West Bay 8-12 September and had a fantastic time, helped by wonderful warm sunny weather. We visited The George quite a few times during our 5 day break, and enjoyed their choice of beers/ciders/wines. The food is lovely too, with a great area to sit outside with our dog. A great pub, and we look forward to coming... More
