Description: The George is located on the Harbour in the heart of West Bay, Dorset. This striking Georgian building stands proudly on the harbourside of this popular fishing village, made famous by being the backdrop to the recent BBC Tv series "Broadchurch".The hotel has recently been taken over (01/10/2013) by Chris and Kim and they are busy welcoming guests new and old to The George. The hotel is open all day and serves fresh locally sourced home cooked from the restaurant, including daily specials using fish sourced from the fishing boats in the harbour. The bar serves a good selection of wines and exceptional real ales from Palmers Brewery, located a mile away in Bridport. There is plenty to do in the area, with several of breathtaking coastal walks and leisurely strolls along the beach front. There are several charter boats waiting to take keen sea fishing visitors, or a Rib taxi that will take you to nearby Lyme Regis and return a couple of hours later. Whether you are looking for a adrenalin packed weekend, or simply a relaxing break by the beautiful harbour, The George Hotel is the place to stay. Chris and Kim look forward to welcoming you to The George soon.

We visited West Bay 8-12 September and had a fantastic time, helped by wonderful warm sunny weather. We visited The George quite a few times during our 5 day break, and enjoyed their choice of beers/ciders/wines. The food is lovely too, with a great area to sit outside with our dog. A great pub, and we look forward to coming... More

looked like a nice pub but our salad was dead, gave us bottled coke like how you buy in the supermarket which was flat without explaining why and when we complained they gave us more flat coke... food presentation rubbish, staff talking about you not thinking you can hear them... not good....

Had a nice meal here while on holiday. Plenty to choose from on the menu and a specials board. Price was what I would expect to pay for a family of 5. Staff were friendly.

Ate here with my family. Had ribs from the specials board and they were huge and tasted lovely. Wife and daughter had fish and again very nicely cooked and presented. Nice area outside to sit and a lovely September evening.

Had a great carvery roast here on a Sunday in August it was fully booked which is always a good sign. Great value, chef was on hand and very chatty and knowledgeable. Service at the bar was very slow and crockery, cutlery and glassware was running out fast! Would make a return visit.

We visited The George with some trepidation after a very bad experience there a few years ago. I was assured that the management had changed hands and was regaining a good local reputation. It was busy and we were very hungry. The menu is extensive, with a bar menu and specials, so it took us a while to order. I... More

We were a party of five for lunch on Sunday and elected to have the carvery. There are two sizes of meal, and four of us had the smaller and one had the large carvery. The meat choice was good with beef, pork and turkey which was carved onto the plate and we then helped ourselves to the vegetables and... More
