The George

Very good food and beer. The George has an outside seating area where you can enjoy the view of a busy little harbour. The prices are reasonable. Recommended!

Recently revisited Weymouth for a short family break. On previous occasions we had call in to west bay and eaten in The George, this visit was no different! Once again bar staff were excellent, very attentive giving a nice family atmosphere. Lovely to see a family pub thriving in difficult times. The food was again excellent, a wide selection of... We visited this pub towards the end of a weeks holiday in West Bay. Unusually for us, this was our only pub visit of the holiday. So glad we visited it. The bar staff were attentive and quickly apologised when an ordered food item was found to be unavailable. I soon found an alternative which was fine. Our group of... More

I have to give The George a mixed review. Our first visit went well, the pies were delicious but you do have to wait for them. In our case about an hour. The food is pub grub so don't expect any finesse but on our second visit it didn't go so well. We booked but still had to wait well... More

Went to West Bay for a quiet break. Took Maisey our Bichon for the walks. Discovered the George Hotel on the Harbour and they accepted dogs, so we were in. What a surprise, the food was superb, reasonably priced and really fresh. Loved it so much we went every night for a week. The pies are a real revelation. As... More

The George is a very friendly pub that serves excellent, value for money food. I recommend you book your table as it can get quite full.

We stopped in at The George for a bite to eat at lunch time and we were pleasantly surprised by the interior of this pub - very tastefully decorated and a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly & welcoming and the menu was substantial. When our food arrived we were not disappointed, it was delicious! The next time we visit... More

Went to The George for lunch today, sat in the restaurant. It has a great atmosphere, very friendly staff. The food is very good value and all freshly cooked. Would recommend The George and definitely would go back when in West Bay.

We have dined in the establishment now twice in the past month, the first time being a good experience but not so the second time round. We arrived on Bank Holiday Monday at 2.15pm and we had not booked although a party of 8, however the restaurant was not particularly busy at this time with only 3 other tables in... More

Thank you for your observations after your recent visit to the George. You are quite right in as much as we are short staffed, but then again so are most restaurants and pubs within a 20 mile radius. Despite advertising continuously there is a complete void in the catering industry at the moment and as a result we are all... More

Visited The George for lunch during a very pleasant visit to West Bay. On our arrival, the sun was out so we decided to eat outside, next to the river. We went inside to order our drinks and meal and it was at that time that I couldn't help noticing a very affectionate Boxer dog, sat on a chair at... More

Thank you for your recent visit to the George, and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your food and that all aspects of your dining experience met with your expectations. We are a seaside location and your visit coincided with a very busy bank holiday weekend. During this period the pub is at capacity throughout the whole weekend. When... More
