The fish and chips are lovely The chips are of a decent size and not like the restaurant down the road all bits and bobs. The fish is lovely and white and the batter lovely. The service was a little slow but we were not in a rush. The only fault I can say is I think it is a... More

The senior menu is great just enough for us 3 courses for £9.50 what a bargain. Great service very friendly. Food cooked to perfection we go every week never been dissapointed yet. Where else can you get a 3 course meal for £9.50 brill.

Thought we'd have fish and chips. The Mermaid is somewhere we've been several times over the years. The restaurant looked quite busy (6.30pm Mother's Day). So we were not too concerned to be asked to wait until they had reset a table for the five of us. After a 10 min wait we were shown to a table. We had... More

Visited the restaurant today with family wanting a quick meal. The place was nearly empty so we didn't expect to wait long. Service was very slow and staff were miserable and not a smile amongst them. When the haddock and chips arrived the fish was covered in thick batter. For the small portion it was very expensive too. But the... More

I called in the takeaway here to 'check it out' before I went with family for a meal in the restaurant. I think it's safe to say that we won't be booking a table in the restaurant. The fish was bits of fish stuck together that hadn't quite been cooked long enough. The batter was too thick and again not... More

Have been before for takeaway - have never been into the restaurant as this doesn't really appeal to us. The takeaway was lovely and such a bonus that its open on a Sunday when I can't satisfy a f&c takeaway anywhere else!

We called with my grandmother last week. They have told me for years how good it is so i was pleasantly surprised how big and clean it was. My first impression when looking at the menu was how expensive it appeared to be. I ordered large cod which came with tea or coffee. When I arrived there was plenty of... More

Staff are badly trained and clearly don't want to work there and should not be in the customer service industry. Particular problems are with the staff that have been there longer...they have clearly forgotten what customer service is and that they are there to keep customers happy. Food is good but you shouldn't have to pay such high prices for... More

I came across this place (plaice?) about 10 years ago when I got lost on the way back from Leeds to Sheffield. At that time (I had never heard of it before) I thought it was fantastic. Now, having returned in recent times, I was severely disappointed. While the batter was fairly crispy/crunchy, the fish (a haddock 'special') did not... More

I really did fancy a good fish and chip tea so trotted up to The Mermaid at Morley. My order a seniors meal - main course - Haddock & Chips (haddock 50p.extra) no problem, along with tea and 1 portion of brown bread and butter + 1 extra slice of brown bread and butter. To finish off with a portion... More
