We stumbled across this restaurant after a long and tiring day and we were so glad that we did. We were treated to white table cloths, friendly waitresses, table service and good food. The tea was unlimited ( "Endless Tea -£2") the starter was lovely, the mains were cooked beautifully ( I had the fishcakes, husband had a Huuuuge piece... More

We used to visit this restaurant on a regular basis and returned recently when in the area. Whilst the food was reasonable (although not worth the price!), the attitude of our waitress was disgraceful. Rather than being friendly and polite, she chose to jab her finger rudely at each of us when asking what we wanted. This happened several times... More

Popped in today circa 3pm with the missus and got a take out. Fish was very small, 1/2 the size form what you would get elsewhere, the batter was burned and tasted burnt as were all the bits/scaps. Portion of chips ridiculously small again taste burnt. 80p for a curry sauce...half of a normal size and tasted awful...threw it away.... More

We have been coming here since it first opened and as we now live away from Yorkshire it has been a treat to come back to the Mermaid at least once a year. However when we were there last week we were surprised to find that for a senior citizens one course meal with bread and butter and tea was... More

Just had dinner there with the family. Encountered rude staff unwilling to help A fishshop that doesn't do fishcakes or battered sausage. Very small portions also of a poor quality and overpriced.

Had not been for a while so was surprised when we arrived and it was so quite. After 5 mins of going through the menu not surprised. No longer one price for fish chips bread butter pot of tea. We ordered 2 standard fish which arrived coated in a thick batter we soon found out why. Once through the batter... More

We have to visit Morley quite a lot and have sometimes gone to get a quick tea here. I must say the place is getting far too expensive and the staff are miserable and rude. The closing times state on the board outside that the are open till 8pm yet we were turned away at 7.0pm last Monday. The member... More

I meet here with colleagues 3 or 4 times a year and yesterday was the first time for around 3 months. The food as usual was good and the service swift enough, but it seemed much quieter than usual. The change in the menu must be something to do with this, prices are now much higher and at £27 for... More
