Great Meal in a Beautiful Setting

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner seated outside, near the surf. For starters we had sushi rolls and some sushimi. Excellent. For mains we chose the lamb chops, a crusted mahi mahi, and a filet mignon. We first ate at Canoe House in its opening year, and it's still one of the best restaurants on the island. It doesn't sparkle like it did in its early years - chefs change, trends change - but service is still friendly and efficient, and the food is very well-prepared and flavorful. The wine list could use some updating, but... More

We have eaten at the Canoe House on two occasions. Both experiences have been wonderful. The food is outstanding and the location beautiful. Go for dinner at sunset for a special experience.

One of several top Kohala Coast restaurants but sunset here not to be missed. I missed the conch blower this year, however. We came with guests, had made this known ahead, and were extremely well taken care of (and we took care of them as well). Arrive 10-15 minutes before an early reservation for best seating, although summer will be... More

We celebrated (early) our anniversary at this restaurant in the Mauni Lani Bay Hotel. We were looking for a special place for a special occasion and were not disappointed. We asked for and were given a nice quite table outside. We came early so we could enjoy the sunset with our cocktails before our meal. We told our server, Aulike,... More

Our work group met here after conference on the big island. It made us wish we had stayed at this resort. The view was gorgeous. The food delicious. Staff was attentive and they had live entertainment and a musician playing our faves. A little pricey but a great treat!

We went as a family of four to the canoe house and had the worst dinner of our trip. We had been here before so i was looking forward to it, the prices were very high and the quality of the meal was really quite terrible. My meal had to be sent back as we all agreed it was not... More

Ended up eating here twice on a business trip for a conference held nearby. The food, as usual, was innovative and delicious. The menu is a bit pricey, but not out of line for the better restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is quiet and conducive to conversation.

Sat outside - it was a beautiful warm night. I had the daily fish special, it was very good. A little spicy thai sauce, yum! My husband had Tempura Ahi, he said it was his best dinner on this trip. We also had the goat cheese appetizer, very yummy. Honey and goat cheese = a great match.

Wonderful dinner experience. We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at this beautiful location. We both had the swordfish special. Mine was prepared lactose free. Still delicious. Our server added a little pineapple relish on the side, nice touch and delicious.the food was delicious, but what made our evening special was our server. Very attentive and knowledgeable about dinner choices. We... More
