Fine dining on the water

Another fine dining establishment on the water. We had a nice dinner here and watched the setting sun. The food was above average, and similar in price to other waterfront restaurants associated with a resort/hotel. It wasn't the most memorable dinner experience of this trip in terms of food, but... read more

We had our last dinner here during our stay at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. The ambiance at this restaurant is hard to beat. We had a lovely table on the patio with a 6:45 sunset reservation. The sunset was great but the food was sub-par. The restaurant is expensive. We expected that but for such an expense, the food... More

Stopped in for lunch mainly because the other places were full. I had their chowder and fries which surprised me. It was delicate and went down great with a beer, give it a try. The view of the bay isn't bad and there is usually a nice breeze to cool you down..

Great food and atmosphere, and a wonderful waitress who really knew her stuff. I followed her advice and got ice cream for dessert. The best, period.

We ate at the CanoeHouse twice on our recent trip to the Big Island. It is the fine dining restaurant at the Mauna Lani and has a terrific ocean front location. The restaurant is large and even if you don't get a table close to the water, the staff will encourage you to take your drinks out front to real... More

My husband and I ate at the CanoeHouse last week on the last night of our honeymoon. I am glad we saved this meal for the last night because all of our other meals would have been a disappointment after this one! We got a front row table for the most beautiful sunset we'd ever seen, a great bottle of... More

The Canoe House is the high-end restaurant at the Mauna Lani Resort Hotel. I've never stayed at the hotel, as I love the Fairmont Orchid and, when with small children, prefer the Waikoloa Marriott, but no matter where I am staying on the Big Island, I absolutely am certain to eat once at this place that serves some of the... Really beautiful setting - especially at sunset. Wonderful, high-end beach side restaurant. EXCELLENT cuisine, and very pricey.

Visited for dinner while on vacation at the Fairmont Orchid nearby. It was drizzling and breezy, and it was comfortable and fun to still sit outside protected by the roof and overhangs. The guitar player added a special treat to the evening. The service was well-informed and attentive without being intrusive. The food was delivered at a nice leisurely pace.... More
