Enjoyable evening

We enjoyed our dinner at the Canoe House. Lovely view of the ocean/sunset, and nice, large outdoor dining area. Food was good. Service was not the most friendly, however.

we had the best table in the house to watch the sunset and after dark to watch a seagull catch it meal for the day. Fish try to jump away from the gull but it has keen vision. They were jumping a couple feet in the air. The venue is simply amazing. Food too was delightful. My husband had the... More

Had a wonderful dinner here tonight. Great setting by the sea with tasteful live music in the background. Creative kitchen using fresh local products. My wife enjoyed local, sustainably raised abalone, and I slow braised beef. We both had the sashimi started and it was perfect!

We ate at the Captain's table as a surprise celebrating my husbands retirement. Chef Allan Nagun provided us with 5 courses of the freshest and most perfectly prepared courses we've ever experienced. His Ahi Poke was absolutely wonderful, followed by lettuce wraps of the freshest, most flavorful lettuce ever. A beet salad followed, and the beets and heirloom tomatoes we... More

The food here is good but not great. Some of it is locally sourced but most of it is shipped in from the mainland. In spite of these facts, Canoe House prices itself as if it has won a Michelin star. So why pay the money? There are two potential reasons. First, if you are staying at the Mauna Lani... More

We dined at CanoeHouse with friends and twin toddlers during our stay in Kona and the food exceeded our expectations. I had the kobocha squash soup to start (AMAZING FLAVOURS) and salad and lobster tail as my main. I was interested to learn that they import lobsters from Maine and harvest them in Kona since they aren't able to harvest... More

We booked a sunset sail with Mauna Lani sea adventures and decided to also book a reservation at Canoe House for dinner right after the sail. After a very enjoyable sail we walked for about 15 minutes over to canoe house and arrived 5 minutes before our reservation. When the reservation was made several days in advance we had asked... I've been tot he Canoe House many times and the setting is outstanding. The food is still very, very good though it wasn't my favorite dinner of the trip. I think you pay for the location.

We visited the Canoe House on our first night despite not staying at the hotel. We found the service and food to be slipping from previous visits. We might give them another try in the future.

Big disappointment. The welcome at the front counter was very unprofessional the woman acted like she was lost. Our server was decent but could have been better. The food was ok and not up to the standards I would have expected. Sorry, but we won’t go back.
