it's location right on the beach, with surf lit up in the evening, is priceless. completely open-air, with the sea breeze cooling you and live music discreetly in the background, candles and torches lighting up the tables and walkways, this is a dream place to have dinner under the stars, matched by the outstanding quality of the, mostly local, fresh... One of the most amazing locations for a restaurant. Right on the beach. Outdoor atmosphere and every seat has a view. Sunsets are magical. Food was amazing. A bit slow on some of the service, but was quite busy when we were there.

I was concerned having read other reviews complaining about the service. It's a beautiful setting and the fish is fresh (and expensive). Our server was laughably bad. I order a glass of red wine (too warm of course but that often happens.). When I ask server to see the bottle she is pouring from, she says "here." She hands me... More

This is our third time here and we make it a point to come back because of the absolutely beautiful setting. Make sure your dinner experience includes the time when the sun goes down. It really does not get much better. We saw many whales just cruising by toward the south. Very cool. The food is very interesting and tasty.... More

Long been one of our favorites on the Big Island, the Mauna Lani always does it right but not so with their fine dining restaurant, CanoeHouse (yeah, don't know when they took out the space between the two words). We dined there last night and started at the bar since our table wasn't ready. Joe took very good care of... More

During our stay here on the Big Island this was our best overall experience. Beautiful ocean surf crashing over lava, nice sunset, large patio, followed by delicious salads, entrees and desserts. Service was prompt though not overly friendly. Highly recommend.

We were a group of 6 and went to enjoy the sunset and dinner. Great location with a very open feel. We enjoyed our meals in terms of the food but our waiter seemed to disappear for long stretches. Probably took close to an hour for him to take our meal orders and we had to ask a different waiter... More

Classy dining in an exquisite setting. With several very good restaurants on the Kohala Coast, the options for fine dining near the ocean are very good. Been to every one of them and none disappointed. This one lit me up. It is right on the ocean. The setting is exquisite. No masses of beach goers around. It feels almost intimate.... More

After our first full day on the island and a round of very windy golf we opted to stay close to the room and headed to the Canoe House. It was not only close but an extremely nice selection that we would consider again!
