A rare find

Staying in nearby Argoules we visited L'Estaminet on three occasions- once for a welcome beer in the bar and twice for an evening meal. We ate here last Saturday on our way to South West France. A friend lives in the village and helped us understand the menu. I had a starter of vegetable stuffed pancake and main of Fillet Mignon of pork. Would have loved a desert but you can only eat so much! Food was excellent, we started with a local beer... More

During a lovely holiday in the village of Douriez, (les Hautes) we ate at this local restaurant. What a great experience, the waiter assisted us in our attempts at French, and translation of the menu, we were rewarded with a lovely meal. We would have eaten here more, but our visit coincided with their vacation. If you are in the... More

Lovely friendly place. Interesting menus. We had three courses for four people, all different, and all very nice. Generous portions and very reasonable prices.

We went for lunch having booked a table for 2pm with friends on a Sunday. Absolutely packed, wonderful typically French restaurant - just what we wanted. Wonderful steak and frites - (homemade chips). Great ambience, chef came out and chatted which was lovely. Sat outside with coffee in the sun afterwards - a great afternoon. Only downside was no chicken... More

We chose to eat here as a family on the last day of our holiday - Easter Sunday - the restaurant inside was not what I expected, very cosy and homely and the staff very friendly and welcoming despite my French being very much CSE! With the help of the lovely lady owner we ordered our starters which were all... More

Visiting the region with friends on a golfing weekend, we went to this great restaurant on the back of a local recommendation. We were in no way disappointed. The staff were very attentive but the set up was basic with a lot of rows of tables. Do not let put you off, the quality of the food was very good.... More

A rightfully popular village restaurant with friendly and efficient service and excellent well cooked food. Our Saturday night visit in October was a real pleasure and although the restaurant was busy we received first class service. My wife chose the pate followed by pigs cheeks and I had quiche followed by beef carbonnade - all dishes very enjoyable and expertly... More

L'Estaminet de L'Andouiller is a restaurant serving basic slow cooked food really well. If you're looking for haut cuisine this is not the restaurant for you. But if you like good, honest food such as rabbit cooked with prunes, hanger steak, beef carbonade, bone marrow, kidneys, pigs cheek, andoullette, (tripe sausage), and many other dishes that largely consist of offal... Fantastic little estaminet (characterful restaurant), open only Thursday lunchtime to Sunday lunchtime inclusive. Friendly staff, very pretty restaurant, good food. Not to be missed.
