wine tasting, taste menu -friendly owners who could ask for more?

We came upon the restaurant by mistake - and we had a lovely time. The owners tried to feel us welcome - the tastings were very nice - on the whole a nice experience.

We had just arrived in Frascati and needed a quick bite to eat. Il Grappolo d'Oro looked okay, so we stopped in. Immediately, Isabella made us feel welcome with her humor and hospitality. We didn't want wine as we planned to have wine with dinner, and she jokingly said we could have wine or leave - and then brought a... More

We sat on narrow wooden benches for lunch and accepted the offer to just bring us food. Unfortunately for my wife, who doesn't eat mammals, it was mostly salty meat...even too salty for me. There was some good cheese and honey. My wife ordered a separate, adequate dish of pasta. The restaurant features the local porchetta (roast pork), which was... More

We arrived to the city early in the day and not being used to the time change we set out looking for food around 5:00 pm. We finally stumbled upon this gem, not even sure if they were open we were invited in immediately. Without menus or speaking the language we were given multiple courses of the most delicious food... This is a real, old-fashioned hostelry. It's a bit rough around the edges but the hosts (La Padrona speaks English) are friendly to a fault - and nicely crazy :) The food is all home-cooked, from scratch, and the wine, I think, home made (probably from their own vineyard). Nothing matches - tables, cutlery, etc.; the food is served on... More

We were staying in Rome with family. This was our 4th visit to this restaurant. Isabella is a real treasure and so friendly. The selection of meat, cheese, olives, bread and wine are great. Can't wait to return.

We were staying in Frascati and took a chance on this restaurant although it looked a bit rough. It turned out to be a good choice. We order a mix of meats and cheeses and a half litre of red. The food was very good, especially the roast pork which was outstanding. Best of all was the friendliness of the... More

Isabella is a treasure. Ask for the taster menu in which case you get a bit of everything - local wine straight from the cask. my favorite spot in Frascati.
