Tapas more interesting than the norm

On the main road near to the top, both inside and outside seating. Wished I had been more hungry as a few of the tapas sounded tempting, but had the aubergine with goats cheese and honey, which was good.

The service is very good and standard of food is very high. It is located on the main street upto the old town and is in a lovely, atmospheric setting. Visit at night and the area can get quite busy and is good for people watching.

The staff was wonderful. Super helpful and true professionals always watching our table to see when they should bring out the next dish. Very accommodating. Had pork on a skewer that was great. Spinach cannelloni had too much cheese and sauce for my liking. We loved the fried chicken. My husband, daughter abs I didn't like their cartelized onions on... More

We can highly recommend this restaurant. Food was great, they did have some issue with the difference between medium and blue, meat wise, but so do many restaurants in this price range. Appart from that everything was really good, and service was friendly and attentive. Overall really glad we went here!

This little place is right across the street from Taberna Jovenes Flamencos - although it is not on the same level, it is very very close - we're talking within 2 bites of a perfectly made tapa. If the Flamencos is closed, full, or you want to try a different place - definitely make this your destination.

A quick day trip from Seville to see the white hill towns of Andalusia meant visiting the highlights, Ronda and Arcos de la Frontera. Ducked into this place around 5PM to escape the fiendish heat and sun. They explained that the name ('Bar of the Prison') came from the old days when there was a prison nearby and this was... More

We have been eating in La Carcel for 10 years now. It has changed in size and in what it offers on its menu, but what hasn't changed over the years is the outstanding quality of the food and service offered.

This place serves excellent food. Dishes were well-served and with fair prices! We had the pulpo a la gallega and chipirones a la plancha con su tinta. Can't really decide which was better! We also had a salad. Tasty and fresh (although it was't really a highlight) We'll probably come back tomorrow!

There are not a lot of places to eat in the Old Town. The place we were headed was closed at lunch and I recalled seeing a review of La Carcel on TA. Eight of us descended upon the small place, but the service was excellent and friendly. We had salads and tapas and were pleased with all of them.... More

We had one meal here, choosing to sit inside. The restaurant room was vaulted and cool (temperature wise) and different to other places we have been. The tapas menu also had different fare - one of the items had ran out but chef made us and alternative that was delicious. The service was very good and the food was excellent... More
