Description: In the suggestive scenery of Lake Maggiore, one can admire the most characteristic island of the Borromeo Gulf; Isola Pescatori (Fishermen's Island). It is an attractive village, inhabited mainly by fishermen who still today practice the profession of their fathers and who gave name to this strip of land that interrupts the water of the lake.In this context Restaurant La Pescheria is born, the name of which originates from its activity of the early thirties. This was in fact the only fish shop of the islands: the fish that was prepared here was sold in the whole province and beyond; the fruits of an activity of an inhabited core that counted in those days around two hundred persons and whose primary activity was fishing.Today, the island counts around sixty inhabitants, but the life spirit and many other traditions have not changed through the years, for the joy of who lives here and who visits the island and shares these emotions. The daily fished fish, white fish, allis shad, lake trout and perch, are all part of the specialties that can be sampled at La Pescheria.

We were staying on the island and had a meal here on one of the evenings just by chance. It was a great experiance not just because we enjoyed the food but because the guys were so freindly and welcoming. There were a number of tour groups there when we arrived but a few tables of people staying on this... More

Had a lovely light lunch here while visiting the 3 Borrmean islands - the fritto misto was delicious and of course the view enhanced the experience. Would recommend.

Visited twice during an 11 day stay in Stresa. On our first visit was on a Saturday night, the restaurant was packed with Italian family groups and couples, many of whom were obviously celebrating special occasions. All made for a great atmosphere. For the second visit we made a reservation via our hotel and we used La Pescheria's complimentary boat... More

We had grilled lake fish, grilled vegetables, frites and a lovely bottle of wine, overlooking the lake, on a very wet July Friday lunchtime. The waiter was very helpful and, until a large party arrived, happily let the four or five tables of tourists practise their Italian on him. After that, English was (as is so often the case in... We were here for lunch and sitting on the very nice terrace. The service was very friendly. We both had fresh trota with different side dishes and a nice desert. Besides the good food the place is worth going there because of the location.

We had lunch for thirteen people on Sunday 11th May. We ordered a fish menu which we had booked in advance: fish ravioli (al dente, delicious), risotto with perch (creamy), whitefish on a bed of tomatoes, olives and capers (fish perfectly cooked) then a selections of desserts (light and fluffy tiramisu, yummy caramel panne cotta etc). The staff were attentive... More

We stopped here mainly because our baby was hungry and luckily we met nice people who immediately turn on the heather so our little is not cold and warm up the milk. Then came our turn to eat and it was a nice surprise too, the fish dishes we ordered were tasty and the price was fare.

Mass tourism has killed the charm of many islands of the Maggiore lake ! L'isola dei pescatori is not an exception... with its numerous restaurants and bazar with cheap souvenirs. Thus, I did not expect anything of the food in this place - the food is correct, nothing more. If you look for authentic Italy, hit the road.

Good morning to you! I would be pleased to understand what responsibility we have about the overcrowding of the islands to deserve such a low score .... sure is that if you want to fully enjoy the magical atmosphere of 'Isola dei Pescatori, it is unthinkable to organize an outing during the days of holiday (Easter, Easter Monday, Assumption, May...
