We visited a carpa after reading reviews. Glad we did. Had an amazing meal. Huge portions gorgeous fresh fish. Staff were great with kids & nothing was a problem. We ate at 6.45 ish if you are looking to eat later you need to book in advance.

Visited A Carpa again recently having been several times in the last six years. We actually went twice. On one visit I had a lovely fresh swordfish steak and a mixed meat kebab the second time. Both cooked to perfection and simply served with fresh vegetables or salad. My wife enjoyed a traditional Portuguese style steak and a simple omelette.... More

We went to Vilamoura for our annual mini golf tournament and wanted to eat locally. We chose "A Carpa" based on its Trip Advisor number two rating in Vilamoura. As the restaurant was busy we were seated outside, at the foot of a tired apartment block and overlooking a car park. The staff were great - friendly and attentive. Personally... More

We were looking for local Portuguese food / atmosphere. The hosts were very friendly and very helpful. Tomato salad was, well...tomatoes and red onion. Mushrooms were, well.....mushrooms. Unfortunately, steak didn't seem to taste like steak. Also had sardines which were still full of blood when they arrived.

We went twice to this restaurant and enjoyed the experience. I would recommend to book if going after 8pm as it was fully booked both times

We went here after reading the great reviews posted on tripadvisor but came away somewhat bemused! A very average restaurant- reasonably priced but .....garlic mushrooms were literally a plate of mushrooms &garlic, tomato salad was a sliced up tomato with onion on top. Clams were 'delicious' and sea bass also popular but Portuguese steak was very disappointing. Number 2 restaurant in... More

This restaurant is superb in every way. Run out front by dad and 2 sons who are attentive and funny. This restaurant reminds me of my childhood holidays in Spain ( I am 43) the time when tourists where valued and made to feel special and welcome by restaurant owners. The decor and feel is fairly basic but this adds... More

Cheap cheerful lovely owner and staff shame they cook the food too much soggy veg, overcooked meat could be fab as very reasonable and nothing too much trouble.

We were a group of 18. We ate at this restaurant 3 times during our holiday. We could not fault one single thing. The first night we sat outside and it was a little windy, the waiters did everything possible to make it comfortable for us, moving tables, umbrellas and promised the food would be quick, which it was. The... More
