Sherry Pairing Menu Excellent

It might sound unusual to drink nothing but sherry with a meal but not in Jerez, the home of Fino Sherry. It works so well, not least because the food is excellent. At five courses the pairing menu isn't too long and the portions were just enough. The steak was perfect and I guess had been... read more

the venue is grand and the food is just as lush. It is a magnificent place with great fresh homemade food. I recommend the special taster menu which comes with a glass of sherry to go with each of it's 5 course meal. The portions are generous and flavours are rich. The sherries are indeed ideal and perfectly matched with... More

The service, food and Sherry were excellent. We had the five course meal with five Sherries. Excellent. Cannot fault the service, or food. A good appetite is needed for this choice. It was my Birthday, so this ticked all the boxes.

Tapas selection varied and delicious - service a bit on the slow side and not very attentive, but just sitting and people watching was great.

This is a very good restaurant and fully deserves the high ratings. The room itself is impressive with the high ceilings and, surprisingly, the sound is deadened to give an intimate feel in such a cavernous space. The staff were exemplary. Attentive but not fussy. And the food was outstanding. Two of our party chose the sherry pairing menu and... More

We had gorgeous starters. I had ravioli which superb. Jane had a speciality made with artichoke and prawns which was also excellent. My main course was Sole and the skin was hard to scrape off the flesh...not fresh. Jane's tuna was greasy and over salted. My ice cream with Pedro Ximeneth (?) raisins was lovely. Overall a bit disappointing.

Spending a week in Rota we realized that the unique restaurants were a short 20 minute drive to Jerez. Great that we did because we used TripAdvisor as our recommendations and hit the jackpot with this restaurant. From the 3 restaurants we ate at (all in the top 10) we both agree that La Carbona was our #1 (although by... More

We really liked la Carbona. We ordered the 35 Euro tasting menu, which paired regional specialties with different sherries. I was apprehensive at first because I had always drunk sherry before, not with, a meal. It actually worked well. The sherries tasted different if drunk alone. They all tasted better with the accompanying dishes. The dishes were a mixture of... More

I booked this restaurant ahead of time to ensure a good table near to their central huge circular fireplace and was very pleased to receive a message from the chef Javier Munoz to confirm it. The large restaurant has a lovely ambience and is considered the finest in Jerez. We had the sherry pairing menu of 5 courses for an... More

The Sherry-pairing menu was excellent value, and excellent quality. The service was good and the portions generous.
