Nothing Special

Very friendly service but food was disappointing. Would go back for a drink but not to eat. A shame really as also is nicely air conditioned inside.

We fell into this tapas bar/ restaurant during a downpour. This proved very fortunate. We were really well looked after by a young chap. Tapas were cooked to order in the kitchen run by a woman. We stayed for quite a long time finishing with very good cheese.

Our hotel was a couple of doors from La Cepa de Oro so we went in for lunch. Waiter was very helpful and gave us a menu in English. I was there with my husband and I orderd a selection of fried fish. It did not take long for food to appear and although my husbands chicken was OK, my... More

Stopped here right off the plane into Jerez. There were lunch menu specials. Good price. Home-mand food. Some was great, other plates not so successful. My children and I enjoyed our lunch. My wife had a not-too impressive kidney dish. Lovely old school adornments noted throughout the restaurant. The waiter was a pleasure.

Passed Cepa de Oro several times on our way into the centre. Always looked authentic and populated in the main by locals and guarded by the calle's pretty jacaranda trees, we dined there. We dined outside and chose from the tapas menu. The dishes arrived swiftly and offered a finese that we had not experienced in the tapas bars in Jerez... More

I've been here this year and on two other visits to Jerez in 2006. It has always pleased me, the service is excellent, the atmosphere can be great - but on a quiet day you have to expect it to be ... quiet. If you get put out in the back room you have coices - try to find another... More

I waited until I came back to Jerez this week to comment on recent unfavourable reviews. This has not been our experience. The Cepa d'Oro was our 'local'. Not the cheapest, but house rioja at 9EUR is good value. Local dishes [e.g. kidneys in sherry] at different prices for different size portions [tapas, raciones]. I would choose local dishes, particularly... More

Being British, we were exploited when we drank at this bar. We sat outside and the barman kept appearing in the doorway every few seconds (obviously didn't trust us to pay on leaving) and we were charged twice as much as any other bar in Jerez. Dreadful service! By treating my family like this has done this establishment out of... More

The restaurant was empty when we arrived - (8pm) - The ambiance was good and initially thought it was a good venue - The waiter was attentive, the steak I had was only average. Extras put on the bill were a little annoying and not expected.

Went on Trip Advisor recommendation...but just goes to show that we can have different views of the same place. Liked the location...but as the ground floor tapas area was full we were directed upstairs...which had just one other couple so the atmosphere was zero. Partner had steak which was ok...I only wanted a starter, melon and Iberian ham, but the... More
