Busy, Decent, Convenient

A bit cramped on a July lunchtime but this wasn't altogether surprising - le tout Paris comes to Le Touquet in the summer. But we were in town to look at the market - my wife has a weakness for French markets, and perhaps I do too, a bit. There was a table free, we sat down, the waiter laid... read more

From outside it looked reasonably attractive, and the menu sounded interesting. However on sitting down we noticed the ripped seat, and it should have alerted us to what was to come. We chose the fried camembert to start, and when it arrived it was simply half a Camembert on a large bed of salad. Way too big, and no finesse... More

It is always a pleasure to dine at Le Royale. The food is eclectic French cuisine with no fop paid to the overwhelming English presence here. Luckily,it is not the haunt of bawdy golfers and so holds the essence of what is great in a seaside French restaurant. Seating is excellent and on this lovely sunny day, exterior is en... More

Eight hungry golfers, male and female, called in at this attractive restaurant. During our stay in Le Touquet we had already had six excellent meals but La Royale was a big disappointment. I will be brief. Service was slow. Three gazpachos had to be returned as they had become sour. (Fizzy!) The house carafes contained very nasty wines. Two duck... More

Lovely restaurant, excellent food and courteous staff. Varied menu and good value. Would return. Also does a good breakfast for under 7 euros

Catered for 16 golfers with ease. Attentive staff. Beers replenished constantly. Starters were great and everyone having fish loved it but the steaks were like old leather and lacked seasoning and flavour. Location is excellent and they really know how to cater for a large group just not how to cook meat! Worth a visit as we could just have... More

Visited on Wednesday lunchtime. Fairly busy. I had veal escalope, the waiter asked how I would like it cooked and without giving me much chance he assumed well done and was gone. I like mine medium, which is just as well because parts were almost rare, but was ok. Mushroom sauce and chips were good and lettuce trimmings fresh. Fish... More

words cannot describe how awful the food is at this restaurant. The mains were just about edible and then we foolishly tried a dessert . The desert of Tarte Tatin was a heap of grey pears( we think) tinged with black edges on a soggy piece of cardboard. Wished i had taken a picture!!! Unbelievable.

We have been eating at this brasserie for over 30 years. It always represented solid French cuisine. Even following a take over about three years ago, it maintained and improved its operation. However, following a major kitchen fire about 18 months ago and its opening about 6 months ago it has deteriorated. It may be under a new owner. On... More

Had dinner here on our first night in Le Touquet. Busy restaurant with staff running around all over the place. Left waiting a long time for a table, drinks order and meals. The food is lovely though!
