Quirky restaurant with some serious drawbacks

I would love to say that I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant but I'm afraid it was the worst food that I ate on this trip to France. I ordered the Moules mariniere, which looked very promising when it arrived, but the sauce was very bitter because there was too much celery in it and the mussels... read more

Staff were friendly enough but food very disappointing atmosphere lacking, glad I was away for more than one evening. Wine was good as was dessert but was at a lost by then.

Another excellent lunch.Staff attentive and helpful the starters substantial and tasty included foigras own smoke salmon and langoustine. Mains were sea bass and lamb shank all good potions and very tasty with good vegetables. This is not first visit and will not be last. I have eaten in many top restaurants wold wide and highly recommend this one. Bon Appetie

I think that La Petite Charlotte has the perfect atmosphere for a long relaxing lunch. the restaurant is charming, with good service and a very good lunch time Menu. I could not resist the Moules and they were excellent. definite value for money.

This really is a must visit restaurant in Le Touquet. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the food fresh and well presented. The seafood platter starter was excellent - 3 whelks, 3 langoustines, 3 oysters and 3 king prawns. This was followed by an excellent steak with good quality wine.

It was one of those days when all 4 of us fancied steaming buckets of mussels for lunch. It's happened before and ended in disappointment - not this time. We arrived at 12.30 without booking - were welcomed with great cheer and immediately could smell that unmistakable waft of celery, white wine and herbs, essential for moules marinieres. Puddings were... More

The waiter was lovely and all started well. Oysters were good as first course. Second course just okay nothing exciting. Dessert...... Well I couldn't eat it and I sent it back. I had ordered a tart which came with some other things. The tart was like a brick. It was so hard to cut into. It was inedible. The waiter... More

Promising signs drew us in - a restaurant that has been here 30 years plus, a full ground floor, all the other diners French. A room with a nautical theme that that could have been a bit of a cliche, but had enough charm not to be. Welcoming staff, especially the hostess. We enjoyed a dish of the day (hake... More

We really enjoyed our meal here unlike some recent reviewers. My husband had visited previously and remembered enjoying moules in a cheesey liquor, which the waitress helped him identify as Moules à la crème et au Maroilles and which once again he loved. My cod and risotto was delicious, desserts and drinks all good, waitress very friendly and we would... More

Eat several times in 2013 and found menu quite extensive this year we found options much less? Last year had some very good steaks but this year the steak option was restrictive ? Opted for Dover Sole which was excellent served with a creamy mashed potato both my wife and I thought enjoyed the dining experience albeit a little more... More
