We come here every year for a family birthday Sunday lunch . The value is good, the food adequate. But whilst the service has always been dilatory this year was just ridiculous. We were told that the service might be slow because their tea room was full.....although when we finally went into the tea room to see if there was... More

My mother took us for afternoon tea on Sunday. The plan sounded fantastic, a nice spread with sandwiches and cakes, the opportunity to catch up, perhaps spend at most an hour and then head home with contented children ready for bed...That was the plan... The 'tea' lasted from 4pm until close to 6pm, by which time our children (one 4... More

I know we have had a weekend of afternoon teas that I would rather forget. Quite evidently if the performance last weekend was representative we would fail and not just with afternoon teas. As it is the teas have grown a reputation that takes time - and yet is lost in no time. The reputation, mentioned in other reviews is... More

Having just returned from having afternoon tea at Miltons with my family as a birthday 'treat', I was very disappointed at the poor service and quality of the food served. Our booking was for 4pm we received our sandwiches at 5.10pm and were told that the reason for this delay was that they had run out of bread! The sandwiches... More

I am so sorry to have caused such disappointment more especially since it followed such good experience. I am deeply embarrassed at the saga presented here and in another related incident. It is not our way. It is not an example of how our afternoon teas have grown so significantly in such a short time. Our proper and intended standard... More

First visit to Miltons, staff were lovely. Food took a bit longer than would be ideal - but when it did it was definitely worth it. Steak was fantastic, great cheese selection! Will definitely go back..

Went for afternoon tea on a voucher with friends. As it was a nice day sat in courtyard/garden under weeping willow. Attentive service, as table was a little dirty from birds waitress not only scrubbed the table but bought a table cloth. Nice glass of prosecco, no hurry , tea was served as and when we wanted it. Nice selection... More

On the positive side the restaurant is quite quaint inside, the staff were friendly and some of the food was very good (salmon and prawn tian, risotto and cheesecake). On the other hand....the fish and chips were terrible (a distinct lack of fish in the batter) , the local ale was served chilled, when we queried what a "tian" was... More

I do hope you can be persuaded to try us again Responding to poor reviews is never easy most especially when you can see the problem, know the cause and still have not resolved it. I am responding now with greater confidence than I have had for some time as we have just appointed our head chef, Andrius Barauskus -... More

I stayed at the Cantley house hotel for two nights in a row and dinned twice at the Miltons. I should have know beter after the first "experience" I took a long time before my order was taken, and served. I don't think it can be an excuse that the restaurant is busy....... The second glass of wine I asked... More

Went with a group of 49, pre-ordered, but with a lot of different combinations, so this wasn't going to be easy. However, being asked to turn up at 12, at the last of the starters being served just before 1pm wasn't that impressive. Chicken wings for starter was a disappointment, chewy meat, and a little bloody in the middle. Chicken... More

This is a kind review considering the number of areas where you could have expected a better performance and where in the future there will be a better performance. I feel more confident than ever about the young and enthusiastic team in the kitchen now under the guidance of our recently appointed head chef Andrius Barauskas. It is exciting times... More

We arrived early I booked a table at 7:00pm as the reviews said the service was slow we were prepared to made our own judgment on the quality on service. We live locally and haven't been here in years. Well we were impressed, service was friendly and efficient both our waiters were thoughtful and interested in making our visit a... More

Eaten here a number of times whilst staying at Cantley House Hotel and I struggled a bit with the rating. It's a nice restaurant, well laid out in an old stable and the menu promises much. For me, the execution is just a little bit as if the Chef is trying too hard to be on trend. The food is... More
