Description: The only pub in the country named The Queen's Oak.400 years old & built on a Roman Ruin.A proper English pub serving wholesome homemade British Quisine and a superb range of beverages including cask conditioned real ales. There are plenty of picturesque walks nearby and just opposite is St Micheals Church. We welcome dogs, horses and well behaved children and have a large, safe garden and play area.An excellent venue for a country style wedding, christening or any celebration. Just what a country pub should be: quiet location, friendly and welcoming people, old building, traditional interior, nice garden. They stock a good range of well kept Brakspears beers, and serve fairly simple, traditional food - no pretentious gastro pub stuff, just good, honest, freshly made (and very tasty) food at reasonable prices. The only thing that wasn't spot on... More

This is a charming secluded pub with lovely outside seating and a charming and charismatic pub landlady (girl really). The outstanding thing is the facility with which any variations on a theme i.e no bun or with bun or with or without chips is facilitated with a smile for very fussy elderly gentlemen! The steak sandwich which I had was... More

A 46 year old "girl" as a Landlady. Not many can make a claim to that!! With regards to the food, we are so lucky to have a super couple of chefs now. Thank you. More

We visited this pub for the first time on Sunday after reading the reviews on this site. The Sunday lunch was lovely - we all had the roast beef and it was like a home cooked lunch. Roast potatoes lovely and beautiful fresh vegetables. Desserts all home made and very tasty. The pub is located in a beautiful position on... More

This is a lovely pub in a great setting by the church and green, with lovely walks all around, The staff were great and a good varied choice of food at reasonable prices. My only criticism was that although my friends found the food good, two of us had the spaghetti special that was served on cold plates ! A... More

This place has become my local since recently moving to the area. Beer garden is lovely. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. I took my family once for a meal and was not disappointed. Again the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us and the food was lovely and very reasonable. Hopefully this will remain my local for years... More

My sat nav always takes us past here on our way to Reading. We decided to stop in today for lunch. What a treat!! The smoked haddock I had was the tastiest thing I have ever eaten in a pub!! Popped In here with friends for drinks as found out its dog friendly, staff are ever so helpful and friendly. Although bit of a locals pub as so out of the way didn't feel uncomfortable at all! Made us feel welcome and more than pleased to see the dog, menu limited but fair choice for most people! Will be back.
