The only pub in the country named The Queen's Oak.400 years old & built on a Roman Ruin.A proper English pub serving wholesome homemade British Quisine and a superb range of beverages including cask conditioned real ales. There are plenty of picturesque walks nearby and just opposite is St Micheals Church. We welcome dogs, horses and well behaved children and have a large, safe garden and play area.An excellent venue for a country style wedding, christening or any celebration. We also have a BBQ & Hog Roast. You may get to see Morris Dancers who frequent the pub in the summer months or come and play an old game of Aunt Sally.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with friends and family for a bite to eat. The outside area is nice with plenty of room for the kids to run around, inside could be a lot better and shows a real lack of care for potential dining guests. It's quite tatty and does not make you want to sit and eat... More

Hi I am Mark Kerry the new landlord at The Queen's Oak, Thank you for your review; feedback is always important to me. I am sorry that you felt the decor in the pub was a little tired, although we do agree. I took over the pub on 05/05/15 and this week have had interior designers in planning my refurb.... More

Popped in after work for a meal after having the food recommended by colleagues. The pub has a great deal of character, well used by the locals. Good community feel to the place. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming. The usual Brakspear ales were available, with the monthly guest ale of Marstons Canadian Red on tap. Had a refreshing pint... More

Last minute midweek dinner. Food took a while to arrive, realised why when it did! The burger was humongous, tasty but a little too much for me, my partner managed though! We felt like the staff favoured the locals. Don't know if they were a bit preoccupied as it was quiz night. The pub was a little dark inside, think... More

Visited for my daughters birthday for the first time based on some good reviews, but what a disappointment. My wife ordered a "fishcake" which should have been called a "potato cake" as there was one small piece of salmon in it. Other meals all uninspiring - will not be returning.

Visited for lunch for the first time. Staff were friendly but the pub itself felt dark and dreary and seriously in need of a makeover. The menu looked OK but nothing inspiring so chose a sandwich from a choice of three. Was quite dry and boring so we had to add ketchup and mayonnaise to zap them up a bit.... More

I've been to this pub many times and most recently to drop in for a quick drink and light snack. The pub greets you with that classic British pub feel which seems to be a dying trade these days. The staff are very welcoming and are clearly good at building rapport with the regulars who come in which is why... More

Needing to victual our adult granddaughter, who gave us short notice of her imminent arrival early on a Saturday evening, we hastened to the Queen's Oak where mine host found us a table. The environment was very welcoming and the food was extremely tasty. Two of us had fish and chips and one had a small steak. It was a... More
