The food here is good, however nothing that is outstanding. All the dishes are same style and taste. Buttered veg and new pots, a little unadventureus. Time for a menu and service style change.

One of many restaurants that have been set up by catering colleges that serve very good food at very reasonable prices. Staffed by the students (under supervision) they show up many more established restaurants (and chefs) with the standard of food and service. This is no gastro pub pretension rather a classic fine diningesque menu, well prepared and presented. The... More

25 members of our Diners Club had an amazing meal here last week. Considering the staff had to prepare and serve so many people without pre ordering, not one person in our group had any complaint whatsoever. The food was excellent. It was beautifully presented, hot and delicious. The staff were so polite and attentitive. If we were their tutors... More

The principle joy of this place is the good natured but often inept service provided by the students who wait on. This was splendidly demonstrated when my request for a large glass of chardonnay was met serviced with a large glass containing the standard measure of wine. But as large glasses go it was a fine specimen. The remainder of... More

Went last night; first time for a while. They have now carpeted the floor and added blinds which make the acoustics much better. It used to be very tinny and echoie. Food is very good and interesting. Being critical, the beef was a bit tough and the veg on the cool side. Overall, good food and good service. We paid... More

Outstanding cooking for the money. We had the excellent Duck Spring Rolls and Slow Roast Lamb which was cooked nicely pink. The attentive waiters/waitresses are a credit to the teaching staff at St Helens College.

A lovely meal last Friday evening. Very polite and attentive staff. The food was well cooked and well presented and I will certainly be booking again after Easter when the menu changes. The two/three course menu also includes a cup of tea or coffee.

Being part of St Helens college, this restaurant (in my humble opinion) is a credit to the staff and students alike. I completed an evening gourmet cookery course at the college in Dec 14, and am enrolled on an (evening) Italian cookery course in Jun 15. As part of our course we conducted a tour of the kitchen and met... More
