Evening meal

We had not been into the downshire for some time. We had previously had some lovely family meals here. I left feeling a little deflated. The food was average, surroundings a little tired looking and the servicer a little uninterested in our needs. We had a pleasant meal but nothing special. I... read more

on our way home from Wimbledon today I was driving and tired , needing a drink and a 'stop', driving up towards we saw The Downshire which looked inviting. We found that the staff were even more inviting and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our server 'Sara' was very attentive as were the rest of the team .... More

We called in early in the afternoon for a late lunch. The place was quite empty and we were able to choose where we sat. We were eligible for the special price menu because of the day and time and it was a bargain. We had two starters, two main courses, two Proseccos in the individual small bottles and a... More

Went for a meal out with husband. Fabulous food. Was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely come back. Assistant manager Anthony was very helpful and kind and gave us a warm welcome. Good for parking too, plenty of spaces 😊

We visited as this seemed to be the only place in Berkshire that served breaded chicken nuggets for our food phobic child (who won't even entertain trying ice cream or cake or sweets). We had booked for five pm but turned up at ten to five and were seated straight away. We chose what we wanted and although initially the... More

Terrible service. Waited 45 mins for a starter and 1 hour for a drink. We decided to leave after tasting the hideous food. Won't be going back, would recommend chucking money down a drain instead of going here. P.S. Check my other reviews if you think this is another TripAdvisor rant. I am an honest reviewer.

Good food, good service at a reasonable price and, although slightly out of the town centre, affords a chilled out atmosphere. This is in a residential area and if I lived nearby I'd visit more often. I like it.

Obviously I cannot comment on the whole menu but ordered Chicken and Roasted Vegetable Linguine in a tomato sauce, well it's was more like tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce which a grilled chicken breast thrown on the top. To top it all a large glass of red wine £6.29 this is a beefeater not fine dining.

I had a 'just because' meal out with my parents on a Sunday evening. The waitress who showed us to our table was very friendly - giving us the choice of where to sit (in hindsight we didn't choose wisely, seeing as I was the oldest of children out with their parents! But, nevermind...) The waiter who came over to... More

After visiting loads of Beefeaters up and down the country I'm used to slow service, dirty menus etc however this has to be the best beefeater by a mile. Speedy service, the food was on point perfection. Sirloin steak was incredible. T bone just as amazing. Bottomless chips great touch. Our waitress by a mile was the best waitress we've... More
