Great food, friendly staff

We ate here as a group of 10 well oiled people for the first time in July and all said we would come back. The food was fantastic and the staff so helpful. Outside the views across the valley are spectacular.

We visited the White Bear with friends last Friday evening. The staff were attentive and welcoming and there was a good selection on the menu. The restaurant area is spilt level and is nicely appointed and olde world, just how a 'proper pub' should be! The meals were served promptly, were well presented and of good home cooked quality. We... More

This was good. It made me regret a number of five star reviews I've given in the past, as the food here was a cut above. The menu is perfect - big enough to offer plenty of choice - tight enough to make you believe that the food is fresh. The mussels as an appetizer was succulent and had real... More

Four of us decided on the white bear because of it's reputation and weren't disappointed. I had the medallion of beef in a mushroom sauce ( Dot, I don't know where you were but mine was fantastic, perhaps a different restaurant? ) as my main and the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. With drinks and 4 x 3 courses... More

Went here for a special occasion, was really looking forward to this as the place has a good reputation. The starter was nice. I ordered the special which was a fillet steak in a mushroom sauce for main. What came was a fillet steak wrapped in bacon with a Stilton sauce. When I said it wasn't the meal I ordered... More

My husband and I are always on the search for amazing food, we came across this little pub less than 10 mins from where we live. Gone past many time but only just visited. Pulled up and was a little unsure about going in as the pub looks deceiving from the outside. Glad we did though as this was by... More

Visited this pub restaurant last Sunday evening. It was very clean and cosy and lovely olde worlde charm, the only problem is that with a building of this age it has very low beams, which when you have never visited before don't know till you walk in and crack your head off one. Should have a sign at the entrance... More

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and it definitely won't be the last. So nice to have something so special so close to home. Lovely to go for a special occasion and worth every penny.

We had a nice meal with family, however I thought that the atmosphere was slightly formal from the host and verging on being cold. The words I am looking for are snooty and overpriced food.
