A truly memorable meal

After several days of simple Norwegian fare (mostly roast red meat and boiled potatoes), it was such a pleasure to come eat here. I had the nevamat, which is a sampler of the (mostly fish) starters. It was something of a medley of mountain trout prepared various ways, all of which were fresh and... read more

The place has nice atmosphere, nice tastes, but tiny portions. The cheapest main dish is pork, and costs 325 kr. That is 35 euros! The apetizers are TIIIIINY and cost at least 180kr! Save some money for yourself by avoiding it..

Extremely charming restaurant in Geilo. Friendly and very skilled staff, good wine and the food is beyond excellent. Try the "grillet fjellørret", best fish I have ever eaten. Relaxed ambiance, and nice mix of families, couples, friends, everything!

It's not the first time i enjoy eating here, and it won't be the last! Excellent food, very good service and a very nice place, tastefully decorated making you feel "koselig". And as i said: the food and it's cooking is GREAT.

I had looked forward to eating at Hallingstuene, and was happy when I finally got the chance. The Head Chef and owner has always fascinated me with his approach to food through various television shows. The restaurant is quite big, but we were seated close to a window. So far so good - until we discovered we were sitting next... More

After eating here 7 years before, we knew we had to return when we booked skiing in Geilo again. We were not disappointed and the food was just as stunning as we remembered. Fabulous game, great flavours and presentation. The service is very relaxed and attentive, you are never rushed. The decor is what I imagine is traditional Norwegian. The... More

After our hotel had let us down completely - dining at Hallingstuene was such a relief - thank you for saving out week in Geilo. With the top quality food and most impressive wine cellar, all 4 of us had a great evening. Definitely the best place to eat in Geilo.

This restaurant was recommended to us for the excellent food from an outstanding chef. We wasn't disappointed the atmosphere is lovely and comfy. The menu was full of great choices. Excellent place for a delicious meal of superior quality. Very expensive, I personally recommend the reindeer fillet!

Too pricey but super cosy 'authentic' Norwegian cottage style. Lovely friendly staff and good food. We had a fixed menu once on the 1st day opening after christmas which was interesting. Sheep eye in a glass of Aquavit, Sheeps 'balls' to name a couple! Very tasty and not for the faint hearted!!
