A trip to Geilo should never be without dinner at Hallingstuene! This is a well known restaurant for the food from an outstanding chef. The atmosphere is cabin-like and quite comfy. The menu was simple but concise. Every expectation was met. Excellent place for a delicious meal of superior quality.

In Norway, Geilo is a small city known for their ski slopes. Cabins located right next to skilifts making it very convenient for Ski In Ski Out. Though, being a skiier or not. If you are in town and want a dinner you'll remember. Stop by Hallingstuene. You wont regret it. Their resturant is like looking back in time and... More

I had heard very positive descriptions of this Norwegian restaurant and was not disappointed. In Geilo to do a hike across Hallingskarvet, my friend and I wanted a pleasant and tasty meal the night before. This was not during tourist season and a nice table was picked out. We enjoyed a wonderful venison filet with nice vegetables and lovely gravy,... More

Really good food but with a high price. High class food from the chefs and the the athmospere is just awsome.. I can really recommend this place to others aswell.. Only thing worth mention was that my medium beef was served medium minus/raw but luckly I love that aswell ;) Only reason the restaurant dosent get 5/5!

Incredibly cosy little restaurant with high standards of service and amazing food! We had wild lamb and reindeer and the meals were cooked to perfection. The garnish and sauces were heavenly and the combination was astounding! Loved it!

Not many options in Geilo that are worth writing a review about but the traditional Norwegian food and he attentive service were absolutely brilliant. I started with a platter of local pate, meat and then I have beautiful venison from Northern Norway, finished off by cloudberries with vanilla ice cream. Just a lovely meal.

Had a lovely meal one evening but was closed when we went for a second visit as was almost everywhere else in town (Monday). As there are so few places around I would suggest you book.

After a short walk from the hotel to the center of Geilo we decided to eat at Hallingstuene because of the nice location and appealing atmosphere. Unaware of the good TA rating we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food (especially the deer was delicious) and the service! As it was our first diner in Norway we were a bit... More

Popular and well driven restaurants with an excellent menu. Many special dishes made with local products, from the sea and mountains. Friendly hosts and excellent service. Amazing wine celler. Trendy new wine bar on first floor ... Worth having a relaxing time there as well ....

This was a birthday treat for Yvonne and it lived up to expectations. Food was superb, tradotional Noreegian, the wine list overwhelming. Waiters did a great job, attentive but nicely understated. Restaurant was full of large Norwegian groups and it is clearly somewhere those in the know go to treat themselves. Memorable night!!
