Unexpected quality in Geilo!

I seldom give 5 stars, this was expensive but well worth it! Great quality of the food and wine. Service also nice even though the waiter was a trainee. Got the recipe for the apple financier, a dessert. Nice furniture national paintings. Might visit again tomorrow...

What a little gem! Like the rest of Norway, winced at the prices - but my word was it worth every Krona! Waiter was attentive, spoke perfect English and was helpful in describing things. We only went for the main (would have had 3 courses had we not been on a shoestring budget) and it was delightful. I had the... More

We have had dinner earlier in this restaurant and the quality of the meal is always satisfactory. We prefer to choose national or local dishes even if it does not fall into the category of fine dinning but the meals are made of good products and well cooked. The wine card is so extensive that we asked the waiter to... More

After several days of simple Norwegian fare (mostly roast red meat and boiled potatoes), it was such a pleasure to come eat here. I had the nevamat, which is a sampler of the (mostly fish) starters. It was something of a medley of mountain trout prepared various ways, all of which were fresh and delicious. For desert I took the... More

The place has nice atmosphere, nice tastes, but tiny portions. The cheapest main dish is pork, and costs 325 kr. That is 35 euros! The apetizers are TIIIIINY and cost at least 180kr! Save some money for yourself by avoiding it..

Extremely charming restaurant in Geilo. Friendly and very skilled staff, good wine and the food is beyond excellent. Try the "grillet fjellørret", best fish I have ever eaten. Relaxed ambiance, and nice mix of families, couples, friends, everything!

It's not the first time i enjoy eating here, and it won't be the last! Excellent food, very good service and a very nice place, tastefully decorated making you feel "koselig". And as i said: the food and it's cooking is GREAT.

I had looked forward to eating at Hallingstuene, and was happy when I finally got the chance. The Head Chef and owner has always fascinated me with his approach to food through various television shows. The restaurant is quite big, but we were seated close to a window. So far so good - until we discovered we were sitting next... More

After eating here 7 years before, we knew we had to return when we booked skiing in Geilo again. We were not disappointed and the food was just as stunning as we remembered. Fabulous game, great flavours and presentation. The service is very relaxed and attentive, you are never rushed. The decor is what I imagine is traditional Norwegian. The... More
