Visited this place on Saturday for the live music, and as staying locally, on Sunday for the Sunday lunch. Saturday was atrocious, the live music was extremely poor, and if it wasn't for the audience helping him out, he would have died on his feet. The live music is an obvious effort to attract more customers, which maybe the case,... More

Just back from a lovely night out and meal at the Bear. All of our group had different meal and all six of us enjoyed every bite of it, the Venison was excellent cooked just right and melted in the mouth. The Bear is a really nice pub with a country feel to it, open log fire keeps it warm... More

Brilliant ‘village local’. Been drinking here for many years with many different landlords. The current landlord, Colin, makes sure the place is welcoming with friendly bar staff and a well kept cellar. An open fire in the winter adds to the hospitable atmosphere. Colin is also a good chef and the restaurant menu has excellent variety with pub classics and... More

If you call in for a drink, your always guaranteed a warm welcome, but its their Sunday lunches that I can totally recommend. You do need to book a table because it is small. quaint and busy. It is served carvery style and the portions are large!! The vegetables were hot and fresh and their stuffing is one of the... More

Visited this place, when in the area to see friends, who recommended the place...how wrong they were..!! The menu does not offer a lot of choice, and after ordering, I was told some 10 minutes later, by a waitress that was stinking of smoke...that what I ordered was not on the menu that evening...surely, the waitress should have known that,... Quite simply, very good food, freshly prepared and great value for money. Really good 'local pub' atmosphere and we can walk home from here! What more can you want?

The Bear is a small independently owned and run pub, with an attached mini-restaurant - for want of a better expression, a small gastro pub. The menu isn't mega amazing, a quite small menu, however what is unusual is that the dishes are all freshly prepared on the premises - no bought in frozen, pre-cooked food, and that makes every... Pub food is such a hit and miss these days but our first visit here was a pleasant surprise. Good home cooked food, decent portions & friendly staff. Would definitively visit again if in the area. If I had to find one thing to criticise, it was a little chilly in the restaurant but I wouldn't let this put me... More

Our first visit. It won't be our last, and is now firmly on our list of places to eat. We found a Welcoming and friendly staff. A good range of beers, including local real ale. A good range of reasonably priced pub food which was beautifully cooked. Good value money. The dining room was spotless and tastefully decorated. The pub... More
