very good food and nice pub

Came here for the carvery but ended up having sea bream which was cooked perfectly. They also do pizzas which I'm told are excellent - the owner is Italian! Those that had the carvery said it was good too...

We visited Birchover as part of a large group from our village. We enjoyed excellent beer, great chat and superb food in the company of Matteo (owner) who did everything he could to accommodate everyone who walked in the door regardless of the time in the Red Lion. His home made cheese is sublime and his beer excellent. Everything is... More

The two of us enjoyed a delicious meal at the Red Lion in a welcoming atmosphere. The food was simple rather than sophisticated, but definitely not pub grub. I had roast sea bream and my husband had pheasant and both were really tasty, well presented and a good quantity. The pub is very attractive and also serves a good range... More

The night was booked well in advance because I knew it would be sold out quickly and I soon discovered why. It was a brilliant evening of warm hospitality and a scrumptious Sardinian feast of locally sourced and painstakingly prepared food to a very high standard. The pasta course was so tasty, Matt's homemade cheese exceptional and the puddings simply... More

you can go in for a drink, locals come in with their dogs - it's just so lovely and relaxing, a great local pub - but has the addition of a really nice restaurant - staff are really nice too.

A number of us, walkers, had booked for food , and the tables were set out for us. It was sunday, so a carvery was on offer. A number of us are vegetarian, and wanted other things that were apparently on offer, (the menu, specials board). Someone took our order, saying, yes, we could have anything, not restricted to carvery.... More

Matteo and Alyson, the Landlords, hosted us for the second New year running. This year we deliberately rented a cottage nearby so that we could attend this. The atmosphere, food and hospitality could not be better. Drinks to start, four delicious courses of food and drink at the end all for the sum of £20. A pub/ restaurant that it... More

In a nutshell, bad food, rude chef, poor service. You are MUCH better off going to the Druids, it's only about 100 yards down the road and SOO much better.

We are very concerned about the comments made in this review and would like to address the problems encountered by this customer. However, from the review it is hard to understand what the specific issues were. We would greatly appreciate it if this customer could provide details about their visit/meal etc in order for us to take the appropriate action. More
