Like a diamond, just with a few flaws

The Queens Head is a pub that also sells food. As such its primary goal is to serve drinks. It does this most excellently with a good selection of beers, a cider and even some offerings for those who prefer lager. The beers are well conditioned and served at the correct temperature. The second... read more

My friends and I had to wait around 20 minutes to be asked for a drink and the general service throughout the the meal was very slow and unacceptable. On top of that the food was average and expensive. Such a shame as its a lovely country pub but won't go back anytime soon.

A sweet and most welcoming pub serving terrific food and drink in a cosy atmosphere. The bar-keeper is quite a character - terrific sense of humor and very knowledgeable about day tripping around England. I had the Ploughman Lunch which was simply tasty and as good as a ploughman gets. Pork pie, cheese, ham, pickled egg, pickled onions, sticky and... More

We had friends staying in a camp site down the road so we met up and had dinner here. We were warmly greeted by the manager in a very jovial way and made us all feel instantly welcome. We hadn't booked but got a table in the restaurant. It was quite popular in the bar area so we felt pleased... More

I have such mixed feelings about this pub. We were greeted and shown to our table, which we had pre-booked and took the drinks we had purchased at the bar, with us. Our order was taken shortly afterwards, and we ordered a bottle of wine to have with our meal. Some time later a table of 5 people came in,... More

I really want to give this pub restaurant a high rating. It has so much going for it; it is a lovely old building reeking of character with a good manager, friendly staff and good beer. It’s just that the food lets it down badly. Three of us visited the Queen’s Head in May. My wife and I shared a... More

Had such a nice time here - visited for lunch last week with elderly parents and young child, and the pub catered very pleasantly for all. A really nice vibe - not over-done, but a proper local country pub (albeit a very pretty one) with the inside left to speak for itself. We liked that a lot, having eaten at... More

Stopped in for Sunday lunch after a day out at Rockingham Speedway (only a short trip away). The pub is a beautiful building, well decorated and has some lovely outside seating. We ate in the bar as the restaurant full, all areas are finished really nicely. The welcome was not just warm and friendly, but the owner seemed genuinely interested... More

We hadn't been here for a few years and thought we would call in for a quick lunch - excellent decision. The Queen's Head is a quintessentially English country pub in a beautiful little village - stone cottages, thatched rooves, large old church. It was a miserable summer's day that was cheered up by a visit to this excellent little... More
