A tasty bite of local tradition

Alfred's has been around since 1946 and honours the memory of its original owner, Alfred Cook. According to the internet he was an English migrant who originally sold his hamburgers from a caravan in the Guildford area. Driving past Alfred's for many years wondering why there were crowds of people around a fire pit at a takeaway diner we decided to go along. We ordered our burgers...my husband is vegetarian ...so there was this option. The food when it came wrapped in paper was fresh hot and very tasty. Now we know why it's so popular! A... More

Alfred's Kitchen is amazing! It doesn't look like much, a little hut in the middle of a street but the food... Omg soooo nice. I had the bacon burger with egg cheese and pineapple and I will never look back. It was the best burger I have ever had. The chips are great too, with chicken salt! But the burger... More

So disappointed in this place after seeing queues every evening and the reputation this place has we were so disappointed! First time we went the burger was crap could have cooked a better one myself! So went back again thinking maybe I had just been critical, tried the pea and ham soup again not good! Fatty pieces off the bacon... More

I had been getting food here since the 80s and I can say after last nights foul efforts I will never return to subject my family to this rubbish. Things have degraded here to the point of embarrassment for the management one would expect with the Coles home brand burger paddies the cheap buns and smelly greasy tough as leather... More

I was driving past recently and I thought, "I could really go a 'Happy Days' burger -- with pineapple, fried egg, beetroot, double meat, etc, etc. So I pulled into the carpark - but there was no where to park - it was 'chockers'. So too all along the street. My next door neighbor gave me some advice. "Phone your... More

I like that they don't have a pa system. I don't know how they survive all night screaming out the completed orders, but it has a certain charm! I have been going there for 41 years, which is a bit scary really. They're probably not the best burgers in the history of the universe, but they're heaps better than the... More

Visited Alfred's Kitchen for the first time recently after having heard of it's reputation over the years and witnessed the lengthy queues whilst driving past on many occasions. Had expected a juicy flavour packed burger but what I got was dry and tasteless and definitely not good value. I feel Alfred's reputation is overrated, perhaps they are resting on their... More

Alfreds is one of the last iconic takeaways in Perth. The atmosphere is unique and the woodstove pea and ham soup is the best.

This place is famous for the pea and ham soup but I would personally like to recommend the steak special. for twelve dollars something you get tender steak with bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce in three layers of toasted bread. Very nice and very filling. No doubt, I'll be back.
