Excellent Sunday Lunch

Had an excellent Sunday lunch there yesterday. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. The quality of the food especially the roast meat is excellent, as it is often difficult to find quality home cooked food these days in pubs. I certainly wouldn't hesitate recommend to others. We were working in the area for four days and decided to eat at the Lord Nelson on the first night following advice from our B&B host. We were so impressed by the quality of the food, the warmth of the welcome and the value-for-money that we decided to eat there on all four nights! We did so without duplication... More

My partner and I would regularly eat at the Nelson due to the nice atmosphere and good food - on average about 2-3 times a month sometimes more - until a few months ago. We both ordered rib eye steaks - rare. - something we had ordered many times before. My steak was very thin and was medium to well... More

Just what you want from a pub - nice staff, proper beer and an interesting menu. The main menu was fine (homemade pie was excellent), but the specials board more unusual including sea bass and duck with stir fry vegetables. All very good, nice deserts, prompt service, well priced. We've eaten here a few times now and intend to return... More

Very relaxed atmosphere, staff very polite and friendly , comfortable surroundings. Food the best I've eaten in a long time. Downfall, long wait for food. The reason we were told the chef won't let it leave the kitchen until it is perfect. Not a problem as it was worth the wait.
