Good food, good ale, good place!

We stopped here for dinner while staying at Snow on the Barn and really enjoyed our grub n suds. Tried treacle for desert, somewhat to the bemusement of nearby locals and found it really sweet, but a good finsh to our traditional meal of steak & ale pie. I give it Four Stars!

The food was excellent at The Lord Nelson Inn. There was great choice. It was freshly cooked and the service was very good.

We had a couple of Family Dinners at the Nelson - great Food, Service and Smiles. The Beer was very well kept and refreshing. Selection of 3 Real Ales from the West Country.

Great food at reasonable prices. Sampled the sausage and mash as well as the steak. Both delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable.

We ate at the Lord Nelson twice while in Marshfield. The servers were friendly and the food was good without being spectacular. I had the Breton chicken pie, which was tasty though it clashed a little with the jus, and my companion ate the vegetarian fare, a pasta dish with vegetables and liked it. The local ciders were good. The... More

Nice friendly welcome, they placed us in a quiet corner as one of the party were slightly deaf. Food excellent, well presented.

Visited this pub as a party of 4 following a recommendation. Nice staff and great location, however poor food and very small portions. Landlord blaming the chef?

An excellent dining experience is made up of three elements: the quality of the food, the service and the ambiance of the restaurant. The Lord Nelson scored very highly on all three counts on our visit. Our expectation on a rainy Monday evening visit was that the Inn would be relatively empty, not so and by our 19:30 arrival the... We stayed in town at a fantastic bnb (see related post) who booked us here for dinner on night 1. The food is great!! The fish and chips were some of the best i've had in a really long time. The pub has a great country pub feel, very clean and cosy. The prices are reasonable and comparable to good... More

As fairly regular local customers the arrival of Louis is yet another improvement. The Menu now changes more frequently and their Home made Soups are always changing - we had a delicious creamy Onion & Thyme with Crusty roll - a great mini meal ! Also new is a choice of about six really special Hand Made Pies such as... More
