Zipped into the Nelson for a Pint twice in the last weeks - Otter Ale (First Class Guest Beer) and a Pint of Doombar from Cornwall. Very well Kept Beer and the Staff really made me feel welcome. Beer very well kept and at the right temp. Atmosphere better than the other pub in the village, and the beer better... More

We were staying in a local bed and breakfast whilst walking through the area and decided to try The Lord Nelson for our well earned supper. We were treated like royalty by the staff who were, although young, very pleasant, polite, mature and extremely professional. The food was cooked exactly as requested (I do not like my lamb pink!) with... More

This was a nice pub. Had a table out the back. Food was very good, We were given a complementary small glass of a drink after, which was a nice touch.

Firstly, I can't actually believe there are negative reviews!!! This pub was much better than expected. My wife and I plus 2 friends were staying nearby in a cottage and was informed by the owner that this pub was worth a visit for good and drink. Upon arrival the pub looked like any other quaint Cotswolds village pub, but inside... More

This pub goes from strength to strength. Just cannot imagine how you rate it SECOND to The Catherine Wheel which however is also an EXCELLENT Pub/Restaurant in every way ! How many villages have TWO such good pubs ? Dillon - the "new" Chef at the Nelson who has now been at the Nelson for SEVERAL months and works closely... More

We came across this place by chance (we were lost) but what a find. Excellent food excellent beer and very nice people all at slightly above average prices but worth the extra for quality.

We visited on Friday and were very impressed by the fish specials - there was an excellent choice and we tried the seafood linguine and the monkfish which my companion was very very impressed with. The atmosphere was friendly and the service prompt and cheerful.

We visited the pub every evening during our stay at Snow at the a Barn nearby. The roaring log fires ensured a warm welcome on cold January evenings and the food was brilliant. Would definitely visit again.

I arranged to meet some friends at this venue as I had heard the food was good and I was bot disappointed. The waiter was very friendly and served everything with a smile. The locals were very courteous and friendly and I can not fault the food. I will without a doubt be visiting again soon.

Had an enjoyable meal, albeit a restricted menu on a sun evening, we were well fed and watered. My only comment would be more gravy please with the roast dinner :)
