Not the best

I'm not sure how to really rate a place where mashed potato was the best part of a rosy dinner. It's either immense mashed potato, or a really rubbish, overcooked roast..

Went here on Saturday and had stopped for some tea. Have to say was pleasantly surprised the food was great hot and cooked to perfection would definitely recommend this place. All the staff made us feel welcome and seemed to be enjoying their jobs.

We live local and went to this pub last evening. My husband ordered two fish and chip meals only to be told they had no fish!!!!!!! We then revisited the menu and choose the Chicken in the Basket. Don't bother. I think the chicken had been flattened with a rolling pin and deep fried in breadcrumbs, the two chicken legs... More

We used to eat here alot - but not for a while, so we thought we'd give it another try. The food was 'ok' - cheap and cheerful - but the tables were sticky, the cutlery abit grubby and it just feels very unloved. We won't be going back.

This pub is always on my list when thinking of going somewhere to eat, it doesn't matter when you go there the food is always fresh and looks great, the bar staff always have a smile and your served pretty quick. My only moan would be sometimes the tables are sticky and it's annoying but overall fab.

This pub has been one if my locals for the last 20 years. If you want to come here for a few beers and have a chat with your mates then fine. But even though the food is cheap, it is dried up microwave rubbish! I ordered a curry that literally looked like a supermarket microwave meal and they had... More

Visited the Talbot, lunch time on the 31st. Had booked a table for 6. The pub was busy but not packed. Once seated and food ordered, it didn't take long to arrive at the table. This continued throughout our stay, With enough time between serving for the food to go down. The staff couldn't do enough for us and it... More

My wife and two children decided to visit the Talbot on a Saturday lunch time and we are glad we did! We have been to many of these 'chain pubs' such as hungry horse, sizzling pubs etc and it is usually a bit hit or miss bit not the Talbot. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a... More

Visited with friends while away on business and was pleasently surprised. Pleasent surroundings, polite staff and fairly good food at a reasonably price. Would happily use again
