Lovely but slow service

This place is far nicer than your average pub. It has a great mix of tradition and more modern touches and is spotlessly clean. The menu is fairly vast with something for everyone. Whatever you choose to eat, it is all freshly prepared and cooked. I had crispy duck with ribbon vegetables which was... read more

This was our first visit to the red lion and we were not to be disappointed, the staff were very friendly and efficient, the food quite pricey but well worth it. Our only slight grumble was as it was a very hot evening there were no windows open so it became quite uncomfortable after a while. However we would certainly... More

My wife & I chose this pub to celebrate a wedding anniversary, as the reviews on the whole were good and our son, a regular visitor with his girlfriends family insisted we try it out as they'd never been disappointed. All sounded promising. Sadly our experience wasn't the same. The restaurant itself is delightfully laid out & clearly aims to... More

We have been coming to the Red Lion perhaps every couple of months for lunch and the food has always been good. I agree that sometimes service is slow even if the place isn't particularly busy but I have always put that down to attention to detail and good preparation of the food. Price wise it has been good value... More

We love this place for dinner but are here tonight for a sneaky drink. 😉 We love pimms but there are so few bar staff that know what makes a great pimms nowadays..... except here. The barman just knew what was needed to turn a rainy day into a day full of sunshine. This is the best pimms we've seen... More

The Red Lion has the look of an upmarket gastro pub, and first impressions were good. It is nicely decorated, and seemed quite busy. Unfortunately, the inconsistent service lets it down. We too experienced similar irritations to previous reviewers....having to ask to order initial drinks, ordered drinks not turning up and having to send my meal back as it was... More

Visited Nymans and stopped here for lunch after. Sat in the patio area which fells a bit like part of the car park but is cordoned off as a pretty pleasant space on a sunny day. I had chicken and chips, my companion had a polenta dish. Both pretty good and we had some bread and olives to start which... More

We have been here a few times now so I feel it is the right time to do a review rather than a hasty negative ...well....location, appearance, decor and food are all great (in that order)..but I feel that the staff really let it down..having said that, not all of the staff. We were ignored on one visit whilst waiting... More
