.. which is just as well because you will have plenty of time to admire it. 100 minutes between arrival and finishing our main course is too long. We have been to a sister restaurant in Leicestershire and felt on comfortable ground when we visted for Sunday lunch, but it just wasn't as good or in fact that good in... More

Wanted somewhere to take my Mum for Sunday lunch as didn't fancy cooking. Have been here several times in the evening for a casual supper and always been very happy. Was not disappointed this time either. Mesal was puiping hot and very generous portions. Service with a smile and very relaxing atmosphere.

This is a lovely pub with an excellent menu. Beautiful decor. We all enjoyed our Sunday lunch. And kids ate free! Everyone had roast and enjoyed it. I had what they called a "salad". It read well on the menu but I'm not quite sure what it was. I ordered the large portion on offer and it can only be... More

Okay so it's by all means not cheap, but it is worth it as the portions are huge. The service was slow but even so, not the worst by far I've ever experienced. Polite staff and lovely timber beams can be found inside. The beef burger was lovely and the chips were lovely also. I would recommend this place. It... More

5 of us for nice Sunday lunch - our second visit tuned out to be a great disappointment with an impersonal service which may have been made up by the food. We ordered 4 beef roasts - grossly overpriced - one slice of beef and 3 potatoes with lots of veg !. Waitress did her best to get the chef... More

I visited on an evening last week following a miserable hour spent in The Jolly Tanners (see my review) in Staplefield .I hadn't booked and although the restaurant was fairly busy the welcoming staff quickly found us a table . What a relief to be in a warm friendly environment at last and the food and service did not disappoint... More

Starters arrived my partner had the soup which arrived with no spoon! When the mains arrived one of our party had to wait at least 5 minutes for his. Very average food but beautiful surroundings.

The Red Lion has been one of our favourite pubs over the past few years with friendly service and good consistent food. We visited this week for the first time in a while and left a little disappointed. All 4 of us had starters and main courses. 3 of us had fish for our main course (cod, salmon and sea... More

This was our first visit after lots of recommendations. Sunday roast was fab but husbands steak was very greasy and so too were the onion rings. Kids eat free throughout August which was a great bonus. Great wine list and very good service. Fab new refit, restaurant has very nice decor.. Will defiantly be going back.

We had Sunday lunch here and went for the 2 courses offer which was a starter or dessert for £3 extra. I had the lamb, husband had the beef and mother in law had the pork. Everyone said how delicious their meal was and how great the vegetables were. The service was good and we were served quickly even although... More
