Flapjacks and sausage rolls

Second visit. Popped in for a coffee and flapjack. Both excellent - particularly the flapjack, which was just this side of heaven. I then treated myself to a (takeaway) sausage roll as I had an engagement which meant I would miss dinner. The puff pastry was divine and had a filling that can only be... read more

Called in for a late lunch today. There was nobody else in there (just as well as 3 tables were covered with kitchen things and another being used by a man we assumed was the proprietor, leaving just 2 for customers) but we were not acknowledged by the man who continued his phone call. After several minutes a woman who... More

Really great food, imaginative vegetarian menu and cake that you'll dream about for days to come. Will I be back? Absolutely!

On our way through Somerset with Americns to show them a 14century castle with a moat, we find a homely little restaurant which is friendly and obliging . They can present a vegan and vegetarian lunch and serve the rest of us hungry travellers! Not at speed but with a smile. We will certainly have it on the tour list.

The setting is perfect - a lovely little cafe/restaurant in a gorgeous village. This was our first visit, and a bit of a mixed one. Lunch was very good, with huge portions of very fresh food. The crab sandwich was the biggest I've seen! However our experience was marred by the total lack of welcome from any of the staff.... More

Really enjoyed our lunch of crab sandwich and pork pie ploughman's. The crab was fresh and delicious. The ploughman's was immense, loved it- came with a slab of pork pie, healthy hunk of cheese, potato salad (with capers), ham, pickled onion, branston style pickle, bread, salad with balsamic dressing. Just really nice to go somewhere where each ingredient is quality... More

Decided to make a stop at Nunney as it was such a pretty village and whilst there stopped for something to eat and drink in The Castle Kitchen. The food was all home made and beautifully presented. The portions so generous that I had to ask for a 'doggy bag'. I will definitely be stopping again on my way back... More

Stopped here on the way down to Devon to have a quick look at a pretty castle - English Heritage (no entrance fee) - and so pleased to find this place nearby as is was a great place to break the journey. The cafe was almost next door to the historic castle and easily missed but glad we didn't as... More

The Castle Kitchen is the perfect place to have coffee/tea or lunch before you start walking in the beautiful surroundings of Nunney. The owner is very, very kind and welcoming. We can highly recommend this nice little restaurant.

Wafts of chicken and tarragon hit us as we walked through the door to be met by a very friendly lady. We had lovely coffee, excellent cake (almond, gooseberry and elderflower) and brownie in a relaxing, beautiful spot close to Nunney Castle. We took a rabbit pie home to warm through for lunch. The mustard sauce and the pie were... More
