The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely Oxfordshire countryside, 4 miles from Oxford and and 10 miles from Bicester. Situated on a limestone escarpment at over 300 feet above sea level, our garden offers commanding views across Otmoor, looking over Charlton on Otmoor and further afield towards Bicester and beyond. We offer a countryside escape from the hustle and bustle over nearby Oxford and Headington, and also a pleasant detour away from the daily grind of the A34. Beckley is an idyllic Oxfordshire village, with a long and rich history. We have a large bar, and attached restaurant, and together with our lovely garden, we can accommodate over 70 for lunch or dinner. We are also a great location for an Oxfordshire countryside wedding reception, or other family events; see our page regarding hosting your event here. We are both family and dog friendly (bar and garden only for dogs), and welcome walkers stopping off the Oxfordshire Way for a rest! We are also only a mile away from the RSPB Bird Reserve at Otmoor. We offer a large range of Brakspear and guest beers, wines from Cockbarn and Campbell, and a full range of home cooked food sourced wherever possible from local Oxfordshire suppliers. We are proud to be a traditional village local, at the heart of the Beckley village community, as well as a great place to eat and drink with a short drive from Bicester, Oxford and the surrounding villages of Otmoor. We look forward to making you welcome! Samantha, Steve and Head Chef Will.

Great craic at the pub

My wife and I went with friends to The Abingdon Arms and had a great time. Irish music, cold Guinness and a good helping of Irish stew. What could be better. New landlord/landlady who were very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit probably a Saturday night soon.

We held a Wake for my mother yesterday at the pub following a service at the Crematorium. Steve and Samantha did a fantastic job particularly as we'd said there would be 70 people and these were in fact over 100. The service was great, the food was good and they made everyone feel very welcome. I would have no hesitation... More

Thanks so much for your review. We are pleased we met your expectations on what was of course a difficult day for you. Your group was the largest we have catered for so far since we took over this lovely pub in August, and I am pleased with how well the team copied. More

Went for a great evening full of fun and Irish laughter and tunes. The landlady was welcoming and stayed cool under a very busy bar. Would recommend a visit without hesitation.

We felt our party was accomodated very well. We rented a room for a wake where we were served platters of food. The food was all homemade and very delicious! I highly recommend a visit and they have two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25 on Tuesday evenings! Bargain! Thank you for your hospitality at such a hard... More

Samantha and I really appreciate your feedback. We try hard to provide a considerate and caring service for post funeral events, with homemade food as you state. I am glad we met your expectations on the day. More

We visited the Abingdon Arms for a second time after a really good visit before. We went for the Steak night on Tuesday and were happy with both the service and the food and waiting times. The lady running the bar was very polite and efficient ensuring that all the customers were happy. Busy bar area and a couple of... More

This is the second time we've been here. The last time in the summer took "hours" to get served and today was the same (a Tuesday lunchtime) we only had lasagne and whitebait and it took over an hour. What would happen if they were busy god knows! It was also very cold, the pub not the food which was... More

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. We are a small family business trying to get through our first winter running a pub. We are spending a small fortune on heating a drafty old pub, and I am surprised you found it cold. We are trying to set appropriate staffing levels for a winter lunchtime, clearly we got it wrong... My first visit here was really positive so we went back again on Friday evening. Food was ok but all cold - cold soup, cold chips and cold fish. Service was also slow. We had booked for 7.30pm and we weren't the only ones who had issues on Friday. I think the Manager was off and the 2 waitresses were... More

I'm sorry your recent visit wasn't as good as your first. My wife and I did have a family commitment that evening, and our assistant manager ran operations. I will find out whilst we were a bit slow that evening. More
