Description: The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely...
The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely Oxfordshire countryside, 4 miles from Oxford and and 10 miles from Bicester. Situated on a limestone escarpment at over 300 feet above sea level, our garden offers commanding views across Otmoor, looking over Charlton on Otmoor and further afield towards Bicester and beyond. We offer a countryside escape from the hustle and bustle over nearby Oxford and Headington, and also a pleasant detour away from the daily grind of the A34. Beckley is an idyllic Oxfordshire village, with a long and rich history. We have a large bar, and attached restaurant, and together with our lovely garden, we can accommodate over 70 for lunch or dinner. We are also a great location for an Oxfordshire countryside wedding reception, or other family events; see our page regarding hosting your event here. We are both family and dog friendly (bar and garden only for dogs), and welcome walkers stopping off the Oxfordshire Way for a rest! We are also only a mile away from the RSPB Bird Reserve at Otmoor. We offer a large range of Brakspear and guest beers, wines from Cockbarn and Campbell, and a full range of home cooked food sourced wherever possible from local Oxfordshire suppliers. We are proud to be a traditional village local, at the heart of the Beckley village community, as well as a great place to eat and drink with a short drive from Bicester, Oxford and the surrounding villages of Otmoor. We look forward to making you welcome! Samantha, Steve and Head Chef Will.

We were staying at the Keepers Cottage at Woodperry near Oxford. Emily the owner suggested we try this pub. So glad we did. The food was very nice, the beer excellent and the staff were friendly and genuinely interested in talking to us. We planned to go back, but time didn't permit. Well worth visit.

I used to come to Abi Arms regularly while cycling around Oxford. Everything about that place was fabulous: great food, great location, friendly staff (and dog), etc.. However, during my last visit I was surprised to find a new menu, staff and no dog. My 'usual' (beef burger with cheddar and bacon), has shrunk to 1/2 its original size while... More

6 of us adults and children visited the Abingdon Arms for supper after being recommended by friends. Greeted by very polite and proactive staff who showed a great deal of versatility and patience towards our children. Food was lovely, burgers that were clearly handmade and dressed with just the right amount of garnish and triple cooked chips were light and... More

Dropped in with a friend for a quick lunch here . Quite dark inside . They also couldn't accept cards to pay today . Decided on crayfish granary sandwich which was not good . The cray fish were lovely but calling the bread granary was stretching it. It was thick and very dense, very unappetising and accompanied by a couple... More

Having heard this pub re-opened last Wednesday with new tenants we thought we'd pop in for a bite to eat over the weekend, and wow - I'm glad we did as the new tenants have managed to turn the place around since our last visit. We were greeted with warm welcomes and decided to dine outside on the garden terrace,... More

3 of us lunched here before going to watch a football match in Oxford - and it was the right choice. The welcome was warm - but not too gushing. The beer was excellent. The food was just right - except no ice cream on the pudding list. The views from the terrace were beautiful. Considering the landlord/lady were very... More

Disappointed by our recent visit to the Abingdon Arms! Firstly I was serviced 3 Gin & tonics with no ice or even a slice of lime, they had run out of both. This was at 7pm on a Saturday! Food was ordered, 'Bread and Olives' to start but they had no olives and the bread was like sawdust and took... More

Thanks for your review. As you know, because I recall telling your group, we are leaving the pub as of the end of next week. We have done our best to run a village pub despite the challenges of extremely high running costs, finding staff and rude customers. As part of leaving the pub, and handing on to new tenants,... We were out walking and came to this place. We stopped initially for a beer, which was very good. We then decided to eat and had their burgers. These came fairly quickly and the woman serving was very pleasant. The food was ok. If I lived locally I would go again, but I wouldn't travel to eat there.
