Description: The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely...
The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely Oxfordshire countryside, 4 miles from Oxford and and 10 miles from Bicester. Situated on a limestone escarpment at over 300 feet above sea level, our garden offers commanding views across Otmoor, looking over Charlton on Otmoor and further afield towards Bicester and beyond. We offer a countryside escape from the hustle and bustle over nearby Oxford and Headington, and also a pleasant detour away from the daily grind of the A34. Beckley is an idyllic Oxfordshire village, with a long and rich history. We have a large bar, and attached restaurant, and together with our lovely garden, we can accommodate over 70 for lunch or dinner. We are also a great location for an Oxfordshire countryside wedding reception, or other family events; see our page regarding hosting your event here. We are both family and dog friendly (bar and garden only for dogs), and welcome walkers stopping off the Oxfordshire Way for a rest! We are also only a mile away from the RSPB Bird Reserve at Otmoor. We offer a large range of Brakspear and guest beers, wines from Cockbarn and Campbell, and a full range of home cooked food sourced wherever possible from local Oxfordshire suppliers. We are proud to be a traditional village local, at the heart of the Beckley village community, as well as a great place to eat and drink with a short drive from Bicester, Oxford and the surrounding villages of Otmoor. We look forward to making you welcome! Samantha, Steve and Head Chef Will.

After a bit of organizing we arranged a post Christmas meal for 12 adults and 7 children/babies and We were given a large space in the restaurant. The meal was a 2 course (main & desert) which I thought was a little pricy at £17.50 pp. The main courses came out all together, piping hot and well... read more

Sunday lunch - very limited menu. Service slow. On arrival, in front of us landlady (?) explained to the waiter to look at the plan to show us where our table was so immediate alarm bells rang. Food OK ish Camembert starter a bit tasteless Roast beef was not brilliant, bits of it tough, gravy very salty and a huge... More

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the food cost, with most of the main courses at £12.50 - £13.50 plus a dessert at £5.50 or £6, the two courses at £17.50 would have been just less than paying for dishes individually. We have removed the baby changing sign, as you are correct that with no facilities it is mis leading.... More

Very friendly staff/owners. Made a real effort to accommodate our family rabble complete with toddler and small baby. Decent selection of beers, nice food, let down only by incredibly salty gravy, and nice setting. Slight minus for beiing sat right next to a door which didn't want to stay closed and in frequent chilly gusts. Otherwise not far off excellent

Thank you for leaving your review and feedback. Apologies that you did not like tne gravy, but no salt is used - it is a reduction which is why it has that taste. We look forward to welcoming you again. More

This is a wonderfully warm, friendly and authentic pub with a big log fire and good range of beers, in the beautiful village of Beckley. I have been going on and off for many years, but last month we held a reception there after a funeral at the Oxford Crematorium a few miles away. The end room was perfect for... More

Went to the Abingdon Arms last week. The pub had been newly decorated for Christmas and was very welcoming. The new menu was excellent and the food matched. Well worth the money and would return.

Just got home from a lovely family meal at the Abingdon arms in beckley. It's a beautiful, country pub with an amazing view! The food was really good value.. It was part of the Christmas deal.. Most of us had roast turkey with a chocolate torte for dessert, which was delicious! But there are other choices! The meal was really... More

Enjoyed a recent trip to this pub which I used to visit from time to time 35 years ago whilst up at Oxford. Had a family lunch recently which was first class. The seafood fettuccine special was in a delicious sauce and generously packed with crayfish, salmon and haddock. The gourmet burgers were declared the best they had tasted by... More

Service was a tad slow but this was explained as staff member was off. We did not wait long and food was great. There were 11 of us and all dishes came out at same time.
