Description: The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely Oxfordshire countryside, 4 miles from Oxford and and 10 miles from Bicester. Situated on a limestone escarpment at over 300 feet above sea level, our garden offers commanding views across Otmoor, looking over Charlton on Otmoor and further afield towards Bicester and beyond. We offer a countryside escape from the hustle and bustle over nearby Oxford and Headington, and also a pleasant detour away from the daily grind of the A34. Beckley is an idyllic Oxfordshire village, with a long and rich history. We have a large bar, and attached restaurant, and together with our lovely garden, we can accommodate over 70 for lunch or dinner. We are also a great location for an Oxfordshire countryside wedding reception, or other family events; see our page regarding hosting your event here. We are both family and dog friendly (bar and garden only for dogs), and welcome walkers stopping off the Oxfordshire Way for a rest! We are also only a mile away from the RSPB Bird Reserve at Otmoor. We offer a large range of Brakspear and guest beers, wines from Cockbarn and Campbell, and a full range of home cooked food sourced wherever possible from local Oxfordshire suppliers. We are proud to be a traditional village local, at the heart of the Beckley village community, as well as a great place to eat and drink with a short drive from Bicester, Oxford and the surrounding villages of Otmoor. We look forward to making you welcome! Samantha, Steve and Head Chef Will.

What a delightful experience! A genuine old English public house with such wonderful staff. The food was excellent and the whole evening was so good. I would recommend anyone to go there and enjoy all aspects of a truly beautiful establishment. Thanks so much everyone there.

Dogs allowed, staff and owners very involved and very friendly. Pub is very old and really fits with the character of the village. Great place to stop before or after a long walk through the surrounding countryside.

Thanks for your positive review. We are a small family run pub, and we pride ourselves on being a family friendly, and dog friendly pub (dogs are only allowed in the bar). I'm really glad you enjoyed your visit. More

Went up to the 'Abbo' for lunch today. It definitely seems to be thriving under it's new management. The reception from bar staff was welcoming even though we arrived an hour early for our booking. We were looked after incredibly well at the bar before being seated in the lovely restaurant area of the pub. Plenty of great choices on... More

Thanks for your lovely review. We are trying hard to be a quintessential English pub, with good food and drinks. We get it wrong occasionally, due to inexperience rather than incompetence! However we get it right most of the time, and I am delighted we met your expectations on your visit. More

We almost had a disaster for our Boxing Day family lunch, when Browns restaurant in Oxford rang to say that they had a gas leak and had been closed down. We decided to ring our local, The Abingdon Arms in Beckley, in the remote chance that we could eat there. The owners were so helpful and squeezed us in. We... More

A lovely Pub, great atmosphere. New owners could not have made us more welcome. Loved the charm of this place. We had dinner - great food, served well. More than enough for big appetites. We will certainly be returing in the future

Thanks for your positive feedback. We are trying hard as a team and as a family to re-establish this lovely country pub as a great place to visit for a good pint, and good home cooked pub food, so I am pleased you enjoyed your visit. More

The Abingdon Arms provided the perfect venue for our family and friends to gather following my Grandfathers funeral. We couldn’t have asked for more – it’s a lovely country pub with heaps of character, it was warm and cosy and has a really friendly atmosphere, there is ample parking and the food and drink served tasted great. The service was... More

My wife and I called in for lunch. This is a lovely old pub, with a nice garden. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was good quality and good value. Walkers are welcomed and there are some good walks in the area. Recommend without reservation. We will definitely be returning.

Thanks for your lovely review! We are very much a country pub first and foremost, and we love to have walkers (and their four legged friends) call in for lunch. We like walking too, and the walks and views around Otmoor are as good as you will see in this part of Oxfordshire. Glad you enjoyed it. More

We took the advice of other tripadvisor regulars and booked a table for our party of six, because it was Sunday. Parking was fine on the road. When we arrived, we had a warm welcome from the staff, and our table was ready. The menu was a nice balance of regular pub food items, all reasonably priced. The portions were... More

After a sensational walk from oxford via Islip and Noke we arrived at the very welcoming Abingdon arms for a late lunch and drink. The views from the garden must be the best in Oxfordshire. The menu was small but excellent. The sausage and mash with huge onion rings was sensational. The steak sandwich was delicious as was the home... More

Thanks for your review, on what was a glorious autumn's day, a lovely day for a work. We welcome walkers of all types, muddy boots definitely allowed, as are dogs (in the bar only!). We do indeed have smallish lunch menu, which is designed to allow us offer home good fresh food in a sensible time frame. Hope to see... More
