The Abingdon Arms provided the perfect venue for our family and friends to gather following my Grandfathers funeral. We couldn’t have asked for more – it’s a lovely country pub with heaps of character, it was warm and cosy and has a really friendly atmosphere, there is ample parking and the food and drink served tasted great. The service was... More

My wife and I called in for lunch. This is a lovely old pub, with a nice garden. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was good quality and good value. Walkers are welcomed and there are some good walks in the area. Recommend without reservation. We will definitely be returning.

Thanks for your lovely review! We are very much a country pub first and foremost, and we love to have walkers (and their four legged friends) call in for lunch. We like walking too, and the walks and views around Otmoor are as good as you will see in this part of Oxfordshire. Glad you enjoyed it. More

We took the advice of other tripadvisor regulars and booked a table for our party of six, because it was Sunday. Parking was fine on the road. When we arrived, we had a warm welcome from the staff, and our table was ready. The menu was a nice balance of regular pub food items, all reasonably priced. The portions were... More

Samantha, Will and I are delighted to read your review, and so pleased you had a good time with us. We are trying hard to offer good value home cooked pub food, and we are especially pleased to see your enjoyed the desserts, which are home made, with local artisan produced ice cream. We have also been working hard training... More

After a sensational walk from oxford via Islip and Noke we arrived at the very welcoming Abingdon arms for a late lunch and drink. The views from the garden must be the best in Oxfordshire. The menu was small but excellent. The sausage and mash with huge onion rings was sensational. The steak sandwich was delicious as was the home... More

Thanks for your review, on what was a glorious autumn's day, a lovely day for a work. We welcome walkers of all types, muddy boots definitely allowed, as are dogs (in the bar only!). We do indeed have smallish lunch menu, which is designed to allow us offer home good fresh food in a sensible time frame. Hope to see... More

Visited with my two girls for Sunday lunch. The place was full, just squeezed into the car park. Politeand welcoming staff, a good pint of Brakespeare's and delicious warm roast beef with Yorkshires and veg which tasted organic. The puddings looked tasty but we had to head home. Decent value.

We were a small party who had booked for a light buffet lunch after a funeral and couldn't have been looked after better. Sam and the crew were very helpful and friendly, the homemade sausage rolls were something else along with the quiche - great food and lovely atmosphere. Couldn't believe the views form the garden either, simply amazing, we... More

Glad to hear you had a good experience of our post funeral catering. We try hard to provide sympathetic and good value post funeral food and drinks, and its good to read we met your approval. And the views are fantastic, aren't they! More

Recommended this pub to eat. Went with friends for Sunday Lunch. Booked a table for 3 with a dog present; arrived to a booking for 2 in restaurant (dogs only allowed in the bar). Staff changed our table but then forgot to give us any menus.Ordered 2 Roast beefs and a burger at 12.45pm and by 1.35pm it hadn't arrived!... More

Thanks for your review and your honest feedback. We are indeed a relatively new team running the Abingdon Arms, with no connection to the previous owner who left at the end of July 2014. We are finding it a challenge to hire and retain staff at present due to our proximity to Oxford City centre and Bicester Village, and being... More

My husband and I visited The Abingdon Arms on Sunday as we'd heard good things about this pub from friends. I don't normally write reviews but I thought this pub was really special in an unassuming way. The owners were very welcoming and the serving staff were friendly and efficient. The sunday lunch was incredible with lots of different types... More

Many thanks for your positive review. We are working hard on our Sunday lunchtime food. We do at times get very busy and as we are still a little short of staff, this can cause some delays. We do hope to rectify this soon. More

We visited last Saturday for an evening meal for 4. Portion size very generous and good choice. We were persuaded to have desserts and can recommend both the Nutella cheese cake and the bread and butter pudding!

This pub has recently changed hands, and whilst I have always enjoyed eating outside here in the summer because of the views, which are phenomenal, there is now a reason to go there in the winter - the new chef, who produced simple, but beautifully cooked food

Glad you enjoyed your visit. Our menu is very much a pub menu, designed to be simple but well done. The view will be better next spring, when we will have been able to do more in the garden! More
