Visited here for a pint with friends on the way home from Hull back to York, and found it very VERY expensive. It looked very busy, and didn't try the food and after looking at the menu, the food looked very pricey also!

Having family local to this pub, and with little else on offer in the area, we have persisted over time going to the restaurant when the cupboard's bare, out of sheer desperation. It's consistently bad, so much so it's become a joke in our household. Stodgy, cold when supposed to be hot, hot when supposed to be cold, poorly made,... More

Stayed with three friends as a week end treat away. We were not disappointed at all. The rooms, great staff, good food and service made our week end away complete!

A small group of us went to the Windmill for an evening meal. The food was excellent. Great portions. well presented. We had a pleasant drink whilst waiting for our food, when the food arrived all four meals were served at the same time. Prices are very good. We have already booked to go again. All of my group would... More

On the two occasions I have had lunch here, the chef has added too much to the meal. The first time, I had pork with mushrooms and garlic, which sounds nice but was just too garlicly. On this recent visit, I had the Hunter's Chicken, which was spoiled by being drenched in barbecue sauce, which made it too sweet. Having... More

Stopped off with families and friends table for 8 people. Rang when 15 mins away and they had our table set and ready Tasty hand pulled pint. Food was good. Our portions were fine. Especially the children's. Good steak too. Staff all polite and obliging. Recommended for families. It was a little loud with big groups (including ours) I wouldn't... More

When we arrived ,the landlady(duty manageress),was`nt exactly welcoming! The servers were helpfull and polite though! The menu was a bit disapointing, with Lasagne about the only pasta meal i could find.Would have been nice to see more popular dishes like spaghetti bolognese,or Macaroni cheese available.Food did taste good though, but as i say the only thing that left a bad taste with our group,was... Lack lustre place, food average and a bit overpriced. Once they have delivered your food there is no hurry whatsoever to clear your dirty plates. Seems to have a laid back verging on the don't care approach to customers. Maybe the answer is employ more staff and build a service model rather than the customer fends for their self..?

Been to the windmill quite a few times The meals are excellent and a good selection on special board also some very nice desserts to pick from. But this time service was very slow and the pub was not full. Sat a long time with empty plates waiting to be cleared Otherwise all was ok

Food was average with the portions on the small side considering the price. Left still feeling a bit hungry. Okay inside but more of an eating pub. Service was good and staff friendly. Okay if you are in the area but wouldn't travel for it
