Good food

Met with my sister last night at the Windmill a lovely main course never disappointed with that and such a varied choice. Hard to decide. I was however a little disappointed with my desert this time which was most unusual. Think just a one off. We always meet there and will be back.

We visited during a busy Sunday Lunch time (pre booking recommended at busy times) and were pleased to find other menu options were also available in addition to roast pork and beef. The roast beef was plentiful with 2 puddings, potatoes and veg, the vegetables were a little bland frozen peas and roasted carrots with swede I believe or sweet... More

everything was superb, service and quality of food Real credit to owner and definitely worth a visit I did not stay overnight but would not hesitate, as you can tell the rooms will be very good. Very reasonably priced food.

Oh dear, one of those places where you find a table then order at the bar. Nothing wrong with that except the bar was manned by one person attempting to serve drinkers and folks wanting to order food. Not very friendly. Food wasn't too bad and I thought the conservatory was OK. Don't think there will be a return..

There was 0 customer service. Staff were patronising when we asked after waiting for 5 mins to be seated even though several members were not occupied and none had greeted us with so much as a smile. We felt really unwelcome. Were seated in the conservatory which was a complete downgrade from the rest of the restaurant where we would... More

Visited here for a pint with friends on the way home from Hull back to York, and found it very VERY expensive. It looked very busy, and didn't try the food and after looking at the menu, the food looked very pricey also!

Stayed with three friends as a week end treat away. We were not disappointed at all. The rooms, great staff, good food and service made our week end away complete!

A small group of us went to the Windmill for an evening meal. The food was excellent. Great portions. well presented. We had a pleasant drink whilst waiting for our food, when the food arrived all four meals were served at the same time. Prices are very good. We have already booked to go again. All of my group would... More

On the two occasions I have had lunch here, the chef has added too much to the meal. The first time, I had pork with mushrooms and garlic, which sounds nice but was just too garlicly. On this recent visit, I had the Hunter's Chicken, which was spoiled by being drenched in barbecue sauce, which made it too sweet. Having... More

Stopped off with families and friends table for 8 people. Rang when 15 mins away and they had our table set and ready Tasty hand pulled pint. Food was good. Our portions were fine. Especially the children's. Good steak too. Staff all polite and obliging. Recommended for families. It was a little loud with big groups (including ours) I wouldn't... More
