Wish we hadn't, we're shown to out table, given menus, waited for waitress to return to at least take our drink orders, did not happen untill I caught her eye and called her over. Ordered starter and mains, waited over 30 mins for starter, Ordred another drink, did not arrive untill... More

We have been several times as it is quite local. Food is ok but a bit pricey. Waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Surprised to have a service charge added to the total bill - including a substantial amount accrued on a tab at the bar before we sat down to eat; plus a bottle of wine plonked on the... More

excellent place for a nice meal. Food is great, service is terrific, nothing too much trouble. If you're looking for a really good meal at a reasonable price, then the Griffen is the place. Good parking, bit more expensive than then average pub but really good value.

Hadn't visited the Griffin for years so was really looking forward to the historic building and acoustic session on a quiet Tuesday evening. Lovely concept excellently managed but the overpriced local beer was served as if I was in a motorway service station (but without the staff training). You get better customer focus in the local CoOp.. at least they... More

After reading some negative reviews on here my expectations weren't particularly high but me and my boyfriend had wanted to eat here for a while and he agreed to take me on my birthday which was yesterday (a Monday). Our table was a lovely 2 seater next to a fireplace and backed on to there wine case. We were greeted... More

We had lunch here recently and found that the staff are very inviting. the menu is varied and they do a lovely stone baked pizza. Burgers are very good too. the atmosphere is really relaxed and we would certainly visit here again.

Great evening. Hog roast was delicious and very good value for money. Could have done with an extra pair of hands behind the bars as it was very busy but never waited long and girls were working like trojans. Music was slightly louder than usual but wasn't a problem. Same again next year please ill be back for more hog... More

Popped to the griffin before going to the fireworks at danbury park (ended up staying at the pub and watched fireworks under the umbrella next to the warm hog roast!!!) the pub was very very busy, music was great and a good vibe inside and out. Hog roast was fantastic - a good idea on a busy night. Girls behind... More

£80 for three people: starters , steak for mains, deserts few drinks. " How was your meal ?" "the steaks were tasteless" ."Oh sorry about that... that will be £80 please." It doesn't deserve its place as 5th out of 6 in Danbury - far too high- which explains why we were able to get a table without booking on... More

Have just returned from a very pleasant Sunday lunch at The Griffin. The roast beef was very good, with excellent roast potatoes, vegetables and huge Yorkshire pudding. My husband had the fig, Parma ham and stilton starter of which I had a little taste and must say it was one of the nicest starters I have tried in a long... More
