Average Gastro Pub fare. The beer battered onion rings were mostly greasy fried batter. One friend highly recommends the batted fish & chips. An enjoyable night catching up with girlfriends and the decor is lovely. Could not help but laugh when the bill came up to be told a discretionary service charge had been added as we were a 'large'... More

A feature of the last 30 years has been the emergence of the Pub/Restaurant. A natural consequence of the 'fight for survival' in the brewery trade. All too often these pubs simply employ someone who can cook a bit, buy in some ready made puddings and charge over the odds for it. As there are only two of us, the... More

It is such a shame as this is in a great location and could be so much better but the food is pretty average (verging on poor) and the staff make me feel like I am wasting their time.

This was my second visit. A very clean pub with lots of character with its oak beams and poultry themed décor. Clean...menus, tables, cutlery, glasses all very clean. The staff were attentive, had that clean and fresh look, they happily waited until will we were ready to order and swapped the food about as we requested. I would say the... More

I had Sunday lunch at this pub/restaurant and was very surprised with what we received. I had never been there before so I assumed I would have a typical pub meal i.e. something and chips. But I would say the restaurant was of a high standard for a pub. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was very good... More

The Griffin is a good place for fish & chips , they have very young staff ,students I suspect but must say very polite & well trained. The manager a lady of African decent was so helpful & really knew her stuff.

My partner and I came for a late lunch here and arrived at half four. We found out the all day menu was not in fact and all day menu and there was no food till six. We waited till six and ordered a burger and sea food platter which was revolting- the off cuts of smoked salmon, enormous over... More

Dined here with my family today and was initially met by the front of house manager, Hazel, who was very effervescent, friendly and welcoming. We all had different things off the menu, which we found to be very good and the calamari was exceptional! The venue has a charming atmosphere and is split in to a large dining area (with... More

If visiting Danbury there are better options. This place has expensive, weak beer & the WiFi doesn't really work. The Bell us a better option.

I have reviewed this place once before and my second visit confirmed my first impressions that this is one of the best pub/restaurants in the area. I see there are some negative reviews but why that should be I don't understand - we had lunchtime burgers and they were excellent - service friendly and welcoming. I viewed the full menu... More
