We choose the Table D'Hote Menu which had a really good choice, two courses for £16 which was good value. The food was lovely, service attentive without being intrusive and the atmosphere was very nice. I would definitely visit again.

It's a real shame when someone writes a review based on the clientele rather than the food and service. The Thatch presents excellent Sunday lunch and the young staff are very polite and helpful. It may have been a sensible option to have asked to b re-seated in a quieter location, management are not always able to control how youngsters... More

I would like to thank the management and staff at the Thatch for allowing us to host our Grand Fathers 87th birthday at a very difficult time in our family. It was a fabulous to have our whole family together during this difficult time. The service was fabulous, seen as there was 30 plus and the food came out correct... More

Decided to have sunday lunch out, looked on line and the cowshed says they serve the best sunday roast around so we thought we'd give it a try. Welcome was ok, and we actually sat in the cowshed which itself was quite nice. There were 2 large tables occupied by one family of about 30. Service was ok, food was... More

Had lunch here whilst on an overnight stay at the nearby thornton hall hotel and spa. The sandwiches we ordered were amazing, loads of filling and the meat was very fresh . We had a roast beef, Stilton and caramelised red onion on a soda farl. Mmm mm mmmm is all I can say! Recommended :)

The Wheatsheaf is believed to be Wirral's oldest pub. Certainly it has that sense of history, a quaint, thatched roofed, oak beams, roaring fires sort of place. The restaurant is attached to the pub in what used to be the cowshed for the farm next door. As you might expect in a pub restaurant, there is a level of informality.... More

Went to the Cowshed on Saturday night with my husband. We were seated next to a window which has a sign on it saying that it was to be repaired The window was slightly open and it was freezing. I complained and a member of staff came and drew the blind down but it was still very draughty. That said,... More

I'd never heard of this place but wanted to try something different for sunday lunch, hopefully somewhere that can manage a roast spud properly! I booked a table for two and from that very moment onwards, everything was just perfect; we couldn't believe how good the experience was. On arrival we were seated promptly, our drink order taken right away,... More
