Visited based on recommendation & reviews her on TA. Average quality of food, wine & service. If this is as good as it gets in Cavan, I will happily give the whole town a wide birth. Starters bland, Mains average, Dessert (Baked Alaska not bad) Cheese Board average...Service OK, in a word forgettable.... Would not go back.

Food was lovely and friendly service. Almost the only people in the restaurant so a lack of atmosphere.

Food was gorgeous. Stir fry beef was slightly tough but it was nice. We had a large party dining and with drinks. We had supplied our own cake and I was disappointed / annoyed after spending so much they charged €20 to cut the cake. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouth after

We ate here on Easter Sunday night and had a really fabulous meal! Everything as cooked to perfection, my steak was amazing as was my husband's beef, the baked Alaska dessert was the nicest I've ever tasted, I just wish we lived closer and could visit this amazing restaurant regularly!

Ate here last night, both myself and my husband were very happy with our experience. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly polite young man, we both opted for the stater specials, I had the cod gougons and my husband had the black pudding both delicious. We couldn't resist the 19 hour braised beef which was excellent. Our... More

Had occasion to be part of a group of 22 who had the pleasure of availing of the early bird here on a Friday bight at 7pm - three courses I think were cE25 - not exactly sure as I didn't pay the bill - had brie which was really good and also had a beef stir fry with noodles... More

The Oak Room was recommended to us and certainly didn't disappoint. A real hidden gem which I wish I'd known about years ago on my visits to Cavan. Food and service was superb. Takes account of all allergies and a tasteful menu to suit all as well as good choice of specials. Will definitely be back.

Last evening my husband and I treated ourselves to a meal in the Oak Room. We were not disappointed. My husband had Lamb Tagine with cous cous and mint yoghurt and I had Slow braised beef with parsnip mash, mushroom and bacon sauce. Both our meals were absolutely delicious and the waitress was most pleasant. We would certainly visit again.
