I knew of the good reputation at Monk's for many years and finally got the chance to eat here w family group. Verdict The staff are young, pleasant and inquisitive but not well trained and remain inefficient. There is no visible senior mgmt on the floor. The food is tasty, but nothing other local restaurants can't pull off in more... More

We ignored advice of another traveler to try the mussels and instead we shared the fish chowder and the fish cakes. Both were wonderful and we were very happy with our choices. The cakes came with a small salad and veg, the chowder came with brown bread, which made a feast that hit the spot. The day was beautiful so... More

We visited Monks for Sunday lunch, it was busy and we had not made a reservation but there was a table free for us since the premises is quite spread out. There was a good atmosphere with lots of couples and families, both local and visiting. The pub/restaurant overlooks the bay and is very picturesque. We had a couple of... More

Called in to sample the crab claws for lunch. We had one helping between two and enjoyed it. The girls serving were cheerful and pleasant but the lady in charge looked a little miserable perhaps she had a bad day !

We haven't been to Monks for some time, (after an unusually poor hake dish) , but, today wiped that poor experience right off the board. ! We had bowls of delicious, thick, creamy chowder and open crab salad, and all is forgiven. The place was busy, but the service was fast, pleasant and friendly, where else would you get to... More

A tour around the Burren wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Sandra and Norrie, a bar and restaurant I adore and my clients rave about. This is one bar you can’t miss with views to die for, guys many thanks for making our touring around the Burren so amazing.

Passing through the village we turned to go back to the monks ... The location is stunning ! We sat outside with a pint and a half of Guinness .. The best ever warm mackerel salad and a delicious goats cheese bruschetta with a caramalised onion jam ... All for under €26 ... Friendly staff, prompt service followed by a... More

We had lunch in Monks. The restaurant was very busy inside and outside. We were served promptly. We had 2 adult fish and chips, one child's fish and chips, one child's chicken goujons and one scampi. The fish was fresh and delicious and the scampi was perfectly cooked. All the meals were served with chips and the adult meals came... More
