Feeding the crowd

By recommendation of the locals we entered monks pub and restaurant. We were left hanging for 10 minutes and then asked to wait. We made our way to the bar and sat there for a good while. With hungry kids we asked to eat at the bar which was no problem. Children had fish and chips which were good... read more

Not sure what's happened to Monks, this place used to be an institution. We used to go there years ago and it was the best place in Ballyvaughan, with a huge reputation in that part of the world. Our last visit was a big disappointment. We waited ages for service on a midweek mid-afternoon visit. The food was really poor,... More

We came here to watch a soccer game (yes, we're American... for some reason my buddy watches it) and Sharon really helped us out. She found the channel and then moved us to some couches by a fire for a great experience. Really recommend coming in for a bit if you're in the area.

We had lunch in Monks and then got to watch Ireland beat France at a game of rugby. The atmosphere in Monks was great. The staff are friendly, efficient and my crab salad was just what I wanted. I would have liked home made brown bread but it was tasty just the same. Side salad was fresh and just the... More

Touring The burden today, we decided to end the day with some food in Monk's retaurant. I ordered the chowder and an open crap sandwich. While the chowder had lots of fish, it was tasteless, they're was no seasoning and it had been over thickened with baking soda, result overly thick, clotty and tasteless. The crab was good and there... More
