We haven't been to Monks for some time, (after an unusually poor hake dish) , but, today wiped that poor experience right off the board. ! We had bowls of delicious, thick, creamy chowder and open crab salad, and all is forgiven. The place was busy, but the service was fast, pleasant and friendly, where else would you get to... More

A tour around the Burren wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Sandra and Norrie, a bar and restaurant I adore and my clients rave about. This is one bar you can’t miss with views to die for, guys many thanks for making our touring around the Burren so amazing.

Passing through the village we turned to go back to the monks ... The location is stunning ! We sat outside with a pint and a half of Guinness .. The best ever warm mackerel salad and a delicious goats cheese bruschetta with a caramalised onion jam ... All for under €26 ... Friendly staff, prompt service followed by a... More

We had lunch in Monks. The restaurant was very busy inside and outside. We were served promptly. We had 2 adult fish and chips, one child's fish and chips, one child's chicken goujons and one scampi. The fish was fresh and delicious and the scampi was perfectly cooked. All the meals were served with chips and the adult meals came... More

This restaurant had the best homemade brown bread I've had in Ireland yet - so good. And the seafood chowder was also amazing.

I've only been there 3 times in 20 years and have had the seafood chowder each time. Mmmmm! You really have to try it. Worth the trip alone!

My husband and I visited here on our last day on holiday in Ireland. We visited here after a gorgeous sunny day on the nearby beach. I opted for smoked salmon and crab platter, the fish was a generous portion and delicious but the salad was virtually non existent. This dish was delicious but not good value as from memory... More

Our Paddywagontour bus stopped here for lunch. It was perfect for our family which included 3 children (9,10 and 13). Portions were typically large and we actually took some home with us. It was challenging for the vegetarian child.

Our group of 7 arrived in the middle of the afternoon for a meal and were served quickly. The restaurant was recommended by the taxi driver at the Cliffs of Moher. He said they were known for the best seafood chowder, and it was delicious! The chowder was the best part of the lunch. I would rate it as average-good,... More

Slow service, even though there seemed to be an abundance of staff. Food very mediocre, no atmosphere, and a feeling of the whole place being very tired. Obviously once was a thriving restaurant - no longer! Shame, because it has an idyllic setting on the sea front.
