Friendly staff, warm fire, beautiful location, however the food is not the quality it needs to be here. We had the seafood chowder which was not great and I was very disappointed. A good portion size but not enjoyable. The bread which accompanied it was nothing special either. This place needs a close look at what they have on their... More

Visited Monks for perhaps the tenth time in fifteen years. The welcome was as warm as the blazing fire that is always going. The freshpicked crab sandwich was superb. Sandra and her staff took good care of us and we felt quite at home. What a place!

Hi, We just ate the worst over priced chowder in the country, it had white fish, frozen shrimp, no veg or herbs and was so gloppy it was only warm, never again, the children's fish and chips was no better, this is a pathetic offering in this day & age, rip off Ireland still exists in certain pockets of the... We were very disappointed by the quality of the food not to mention the wine, poor service and sterile atmosphere. Felt really sorry for my boyfriend who thought he was buying me a nice dinner. The drive up to the restaurant is lovely though and we ended up giggling about the experience.

Just had the vegetable soup, very tasty, served by polite, pleasant waitress. Good brown bread too. Pity about the music/commentary coming from the radio. Customers should not have to endure such. Also would someone please remove the dead flowers from the vase, water very dirty in this vase. Must have been there some time. Gorgeous daffodils all over the place... More

Went for a meal on the Sunday evening before St. Patrick's day, was really looking forward to a lovely meal of sea food. What we got was pathetic. I wouldn't dish this up at home. We had one starter of black pudding served with a lettuce salad, The pudding was overcooked, and it just came sitting on some lettuce. The... More

I never write reviews but felt the need to after going to Monk's. Great restaurant, awesome employees! The owners were very kind to all of us and the service was exceptional. I recommend the Irish Coffee. Thanks again for the shot glass Norie!

Menu very limited. No ordinary sandwiches on the menu but they obliged us with a blt which we were charged €17.90 for! We also had chowder and 2 teas the whole thing coming just under €37! Everthing came out in the wrong order to- chowder was last. Won't go back there again! Should have known better when their menu wasnt... More

This is a nice place to stop in if you are taking a drive along the coast or through the burren. The fire is lovely, and I would recommend the chowder but the service can be slow & the prices are high.
