Great seaside locale. We had the seafood chowder and the codfish and chips, food was great, service was good, this is a great place to relax, get a bite to eat and enjoy a pint, along with great seaside scenery.

This was my second visit; the first was three years ago. It was just as I remembered. The seafood chowder was delicious and the customer service was excellent. It appeared from this visit, the staff try very hard to maintain their excellent reputation. The location and scenery added to the ambience!

There are not a lot of choices in Ballyvaughan, but Monks is really all you need. We walked along the water from our hotel to this restaurant. The restaurant was a lively mix of visitors and locals. We had a delicious dinner of seafood. Would definitely eat there again.

Great location and great seafood choice but limited menu if you're not a seafood fan. My chowder was amazing. Huge portion with fresh tasty brown soda bread. I felt like I had eaten a full meal. Service was a bit slow but staff were friendly.

We stopped here as part of a tour. The prices were a tad on the high side, but the fish and chips were quite good.

Stopped in ballyvaughan on our visit to clare. I've fond memories of this place from childhood and was recommended it by my parents. Looks very nice from the outside, right beside the sea which screams out good sea food! We planned on having a nice meal and maybe dessert but on arrival we decided to just have a quick bite.... I fear this pub is living off the view. The young staff are lovely. Management surly. Food mediocre. We had far better fish from the chippy. Salmon tasteless. Garlic crab claws were not fully cooked, some cold. Where was the garlic?! Chowder good. There is much better in any of the local hotels/restaurants. Avoid! It used to be a place... More

They have a nice parking nearby and big enough to absorb a bus load of tourists and allow them use their restrooms for free, so I guess it explains why tour buses love this place. Inside it's nice and clean, the menu is pretty standard but the prices are a bit above average. In the area where everything is historic... More

This pub & Restaurant has the advantage of being one of the only places to eat in the area and therefore is frequented by coach loads of unfortunate tourists, for this restaurant is anything but a good experience. The staff are inexperienced and seem completely disinterested, management are nowhere to be seen, and our complaint about slow service was met... More

We stopped here on a tour of Cliffs of Moher to have lunch. I got the fish sandwich. It was absolutely fresh and delicious, no bones and not greasy. I got mashed potatoes which were good also. Other people on the tour also had good seafood lunches. The views looked over the ocean. The restaurant has a nice wooden bar... More
