Our best meal on 2014 trip

Visiting my aunt Annette's B&B Loughrask lodge in Ballyvaughan is a highlight in the calendar for my fiancé and myself. The calmness just washes over you, the beauty of this wonderfully unique village really is another world and above all the people and the food are amazing!! Having been just once before for my cousin Joseph's confirmation more than a... More

We were very much looking forward to enjoying some delicious fish but in the end we could only classify it as an OK meal. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant - I suppose because there were only six of us dining there. The staff - there were two, were very friendly and efficient. The bread seemed to have come... We'd come off a long road journey so we were a little tired and disheveled but we rocked up there about 8pm so we were pretty hungry by then. Perhaps because we didn't have a reservation they slotted us into a... More

One does not expect an amuse-bouche in the heart of the Burren! Do not leave Ballyvaughan without dining here or you will miss a rare treat. The welcome was genuine and consolidated with a tiny little cup of the most beautiful substance, the perfect amuse-bouche. The Rosemary Scented Burren Lamb Rump was the nicest lamb I have ever tasted, cooked... More

We had a very beautifully prepared and presented dinner here. However, there were only two other tables in use and this did impact on the atmosphere but I believe weekends are much busier.

We booked lunch at Fulacht Fia for last Sunday, the day after our wedding which had been held in Ballyvaughan. It was such a wonderful experience. We had agreed on a menu with the owners, John & Maureen, well ahead of time, and the food and service were first-class. We have been to dinner there several times in the past... More
