Well situated in old city with big windows and numerous delicious cakes that you can't easily decide what to choose as desert. Coffee was nicely served and well done.

Was in Athlone for one night recently with family and when looking for somewhere for lunch picked this bistro as I had eaten there before. It didn't disappoint and with delicious open sandwiches and salad, a bottle of while wine, we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. When in Athlone I would suggest this is the only place to visit for... Dined in The Left Bank last Saturday night and had the tiger prawns to start and the most tender rump of lamb that I have ever had. My husband was what most restaurants would deem awkward as he has intolerances to certain ingredients, but the waitress was very helpful, kind and well informed on the menu and helped my husband... Stopped here for a bite to eat one lunchtime because the place looked really good on the outside. The place was busy but made to feel we added to the pressure. The menu was really good and food was equally as good. I had one major complaint, towards the end of our meal we had the company of a dog... More

Went with some friends and could not fault anything about it, food was lovely and fresh, lots of choice for everyone, cooked perfectly, service was very efficient and very friendly waitresses. We got the early-bird which was very good value - €20 for 2 courses or €25 for 3 courses, although the desserts were very tempting we were just too... More

This restaurant is a gem!! The atmosphere is warm but professional and lends itself suitable for dining with a partner, friends or family. The food is amazing. My friends and I ate from the early bird menu, it's one of the best quality early bird menus I have ever seems and the options go beyond the usual predictable dishes I... More

In theory this should be the shortest review as we only had time for a starter. But, Boy, what a starter. I once did a brilliant cookery course by a gorgeous Italian cook. She introduced us to lots of Italian dishes from basic like soffrito to more complex such as skinning a live pig.....only joking, our complex dishes were desserts... More

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon in this wonderful spot in Athlone. After being welcomed by the very friendly staff we dug right into a basket of delicious buffalo wings, followed by the daily special of lamb on pita bread and a piece of the homemade cake. Add to that some pretty tasty IPA from a local... More

We stopped off in Athlone on our way to Galway. The staff could not have been anymore helpful especially with our 18month baby. The food was excellent. Could not recommend the left bank enough for anyone travelling from Northern Ireland to Galway. Delightful experience. Cormac, Sheila and Elena Murphy
