My wife and I recently spent a couple of days in Athlone, we had the great pleasure of eating at The Left Bank Restaurant, from entering to leaving we were treated with great warmth and great food, and at a reasonable price. Thanks to all the staff, we will be back. chris & Una. Co Kildare

Recently visited the left bank for an evening meal. Had the mussels for starters which were full of flavour. The steak was ordered for mains and without hesitation will say it was cooked perfectly and the nicest steak I've ever had(10oz sirloin). I finished off with a sticky toffee pudding which is a must if you enjoy luxury. Thoroughly enjoyed... More

At 1 o clock the items on the lunch menu were not available. The menu from blackboard was limited and boring eg Shepard's pie, chicken ticka, and white fish. Looked like a nursing home menu! Good for coffee and cake.

We live 20 miles from this bistro and travel once or twice a month to eat lunch. The food is consistently good. We don't eat meat but are well catered for with veg spring rolls, great salads, soups and sandwiches. There is a real feeling of great ingredients being used and care being taken. Nice surroundings too and staff are... More

We had our 44th wedding anniversary dinner here and it surpassed our expectations. Nice friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. We were even offered a complimentary drink because of the occasion

Over the years, I have found The Left Bank restaurant to be consistantly excellant both for food quality, presentation, service and value. It is situated on the left bank of the River Shannon, not quite on the river but a mere fifty or so metres away. It is particularly convenient for patrons going to the nearby Dean Crowe Theatre and... More

We stopped in Athlone en-route to Galway to visit the Luan Gallery and thought we might have a coffee before continuing on our journey. We took a walk around Athlone Castle and by chance noticed some bridgestone plaques on a wall - when we peered around the corner her was the Left Bank. Such was ouor immediate impression of this... Food was good and well presented. The staff were friendly and efficient, restaurant was quite busy for lunch but service was very good. A beautiful bright space in the older part of Athlone. The food is home made with the provenance shown for all dishes. If you like good food served with a difference and would like to know where it comes from call in to the Left Bank

I always visit here when in Athlone and consider it to be one of the best in the locality. The food is excellent, a good comprehensive menu, attentive and knowing staff and a reasonable wine list. The fact that this establishment has been in business longer than most other stand alone restaurants in Athlone must be due to a very... More
