It is a long time since i dined in Hatters...i dont know why...maybe it is a little low profile. ..but i can tell you this much..i will soon return. My experience was one of a magnificently cosy setting, friendly conpetent staff and most importantly decent honest tasty uncomplicated fare. The pork main course was really nice served with beautiful rustic potatoes... Good, hearty food, relaxed atmosphere and good value for money. Just downstairs from Gerty's pub so no distance to travel for great fun in Athlone. Highly recommended!

Visited Hatters Bistro last week and had an enjoyable meal. We had deep fried brie and chicken wings for starters which were both very tasty. The restaurant was quite busy for a tuesday... More

Second stay this year in Athlone, visited the pub upstairs from Hatters the last time and further led astray by Denis and Helena this time that we did both bistro and pub. High quality food and wine in small but fantastic venue. Everything was cooked very well the scallops and cheesecake were the highlights plus the duck was just right.... More

We were cruising on the Shannon & stopped in Athlone'. Hatters Bistro is a fabulous find - quite old fashioned inside, with a warm & cosy atmosphere & memorabilia of old movie stars.. The Barbary Duck is recommended along with the Pork dish - the food & service was excellent & overall good value - worth a visit

Ate here last night with my husband. He had the brie for starter which was very good but could have benefited from a little more coulis. For mains he had the duck which he again enjoyed. I had the pork. They gave me a steak knife for the pork but to be fair you could have eaten it with a... More
