I read a review from a local brochure and decided to try it . This is a class restaurant with a definite style and on a Thursday night we had a value meal which was amazing . Value it certainly was and we would love to visit again.

Went on what we thought would be a quite Wednesday night to find the place bussing, as soon as our starters arrived we knew why. We ordered from the value menu as we could see little difference between it and the main menu, except the value. Our mains, I had the pork belly while my better half had the hake... More

I have lived in Athlone 15 months now and have dined pretty much everywhere, but I'm delighted I saved the best for last, Thyme restaurant. Myself and my girlfriend decided to take a stroll across the bridge to Thyme on a Wednesday evening and were delighted to find out they served an all night early bird at 22.95 or 21.95.... More

Excellent quick dinner here whilst in Athlone recently. Wasnt too much atmosphere in the restaurant, but I was dining at approx 6pm so perhaps a little earlier than most. Food & service were both excellent. Friendly & welcoming yound lady brought us to our table and discussed specials with it. Enjoyed the lightly crusted fish served on a bean &... More

Popped in here on a Sunday evening on a trip down to Athlone and we weren't disappointed. Staff were lovely and the food was great, nice bustling atmosphere too. I'd the starter special (white fish scampi) and the shoulder of lamb special it was fab just melted in the mouth. I'd recommend the side of greens with onion and bacon... More

In the heart of Athlone the Thyme Restaurant provides food of the highest standard. William of Orange (1690) and General Ginkel (1691) may have chewed a crust of bread in this historic location at the eastern foot of the old bridge over the Shannon; if they had food of the standard produced in the Thyme, they may have been better... Excellent food! Is not cheap but it's worth !!! Chef provides in menu much infornacji - gives even local farms whose products (beef, for example) were used to prepare this meal. The restaurant is a little small - could to be a little bigger. A great place for special occasions.

We had a fab meal here (just the two of us) on Friday night. The service was friendly and prompt. I had for starters the Salmon & Leek Croquette and I can't remember what my husband had. I had the Hake main (minus the chorizo) and my husband had the lamb. We shared a chocolate fondant dessert (which was to... More
