Exceptional is the only word!!

This restaurant was recommended to us. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The staff were so friendly and helpful. 5 of us ate here and all tried different starters/mains/desserts. Everyone was extremely happy with their dishes. One of our group runs a cookery school and was raving... read more

One of the best meals I have ever had. Lovely surroundings, great service from friendly , efficient staff. My starter was fantastic- honey roast ham in celeriac sauce and egg- so tasty. The minute steak and trimmings was equally tasty and filling. Overall the sheer variety of tastes was memorable. My wife was equally impressed.

Can't fault this place. I only wish that I didn't live over an hour away from it. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Great food (all 3 courses) - beef and veg spring rolls to start; lamb for main course and then white chocolate and rhubarb cheesecake. Food is beautifully presented. Nice ambiance, for a couple or a small group of... More

We called on the off chance of being fed. The place was nearly full on a weekday evening but they found us a table and some menus. The waiting staff are delightful and attentive and the food was freshly cooked so took a while. We had scampi on rocket and hake which they did with ratatouille as I don't eat... More

Probably the nicest restaurant I've been to in Ireland. I've been here twice now and each time the food was amazing. Was at the restaurant with my parents both times, and the three of us loved every part of our starters and main courses. Thanks so much to the chef for such a great dining experience

We went into Athlone not knowing where we might eat. Our taxi driver recommended Thyme. And I'm glad she did. We listened to their recommendations and weren't sorry. Lovely food, a nice bottle of wine and very helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Dined here recently, had beef cheeks ravioli as a starter and lamb cooked 2 ways as mains. Perfectly cooked, with great presentation and tasted great, with lovely flavours. My wife had soup and veal for mains and again she was very happy with her choices. It was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Well done Thyme.

Every time I visit Athlone I go to Thyme and it never disappoints. Possibly one of my favourite restaurants ever!! The service is excellent; staff are friendly and informative but not over bearing. The food is exquisite had the hake for main course this time and wasn't excited on reading accompaniments but I was wrong and every mouthful was delicious.... More
