Came upon The Abbey whilst looking around Howth. Welcoming staff and lovely place to relax for a beer after walking around town. Ruth the bar lady gave us some great tips for places to explore. Beautiful building from the 16th century and a cosy fireplace. Highly recommended

We have eaten fish and chips and had couple of beers. The food is very good, the place is a traditional Irish pub with a nice mood. Prices are fair. We would definitely come back.

We wondered into Abbey Tavern after our hiking trip into Howth lighthouse, being very tired. So it was very pleasant to find a place like Abbey Tavern, they also put a fire in fireplace when it got dark outside. We just sitted there and rested and drank some beer, and then as it was so nice, decided to stay there... More

Visited February 2014 for lunch. Food was great, and my favorite part of the visit was the building, ambience, and service. Liked it so much that I am getting ready to visit again February 2015. I'll try the Lambay beef this time. Keep up the great work. Our order included the open smoked salmon sandwich, and the baby back pork... More

The staff was really friendly, service good. I was a part of a large group, and we had pre-ordered food; some sort of meat casserole with mashed potato. Such a wonderful surprise, it was so much better than expected!

Myself and my boyfriend have been here many times, always after a hike for a pint and dinner on a Sunday. Always enjoyable! They have recently changed chefs/menus and have slightly changed presentation/recipes, which was a little disappointing, service is always great and friendly. Will definitely return for a pint.

We loved the Abbey Tavern. Sadly the weather that afternoon was lousy, so we didn't get to fully appreciate the beauty of Howth. The food was lovely, esp the Irish Lamb Stew, and the entertainment quite good. We were glad we went...and the DART was an easy way to get there. I highly recommend it.
