good atmosphere, good Guinness and excellent chowder. Service is good and the place is friendly. We go every time we are in Howth, about once a month, and keep going back.

The Abbey Tavern was my favorite pub in Howth (which was my favorite attraction in Ireland). Beautiful exterior, cozy, warm Irish pub atmosphere inside. See my photos. Nicely decorated for Christmas with a beautiful warm peat fireplace. Old stone interior. Staff was friendly and fun. Went the first day I was in Ireland and had to go back for my... More

Fish was good and all food well presented. The vegetarian option was good quality. We came on a quiet lunchtime but there was a welcome open fire and the atmosphere and service weregood. Toilets are in desperate need of upgrade - and although they had the essentials, they were very cold. Hopefully this is on the owners agenda for the... More

Came upon The Abbey whilst looking around Howth. Welcoming staff and lovely place to relax for a beer after walking around town. Ruth the bar lady gave us some great tips for places to explore. Beautiful building from the 16th century and a cosy fireplace. Highly recommended

So it was very pleasant to find a place like Abbey Tavern, they also put a fire in fireplace when it got dark outside. We just sitted there and rested and drank some beer, and then as it was so nice, decided to stay there... More
