We travelled to see Christy dignam from aslan and it was a great intimate venue. Didn't have food but smells were good. Definitely would keep an eye out for upcoming events.

My husband, 9 month old daughter, and I very much enjoyed our meals at the Abbey Bar. We ordered the lamb shanks and were told that they would take longer and be worth the wait. They were not a disappointment! Tender, moist, flavorful, and exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the high... More

We were part of a tour group here for our final evening on the tour. The food was good, the drinks were fine, and the entertainment very nice. There was a fiddler, a guitar, a singer and 3 Irish Dancers. Although the room was tightly packed the atmosphere was fun and enjoyable. Worth the visit and a fine ending to... More

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks at the Abbey Bar and Restaurant. The fish was freshly caught that morning, which was evident in the quality of the meat. The apple crumble was warm and delicious and the cheese cake was yummy! This is a great place to escape the madness of the central Dublin pubs. The... More

We have eaten here on a few occassions and have always thought the food great. B had the slow cooked lamb shanks which are so well cooked, very flavoursome and ideal for a rainy Sunday in September. As a vegetarian, my options are always limited; here I opted for the pasta dish which was freshly cooked and tasted really very... More

After a brilliant three days in Dublin centre, my wife and I visited Howth by Dart train. Great walk around the harbour wall and after walking to the Abbey Bar, the Irish Hospitality stopped dead. The Irish staff couldn't care less. I ordered a pint of Guiness and a red wine for my wife. I was told through gritted teeth... More

The turf fires give this pub a warm feel. The staff are friendly and the food was generous and hearty.

Went there on 14 February for lunch. There were seven of us. The food was not what I would have expected for the price. Howth is a fishing port but the overpriced chowder was dreadful. It had only smoked fish and salmon. No shellfish that I could detect. Main course for me was chicken curry served with naan bread. Not... More
