Excellent Food in Lovely setting

Had been advised by our accommodation provider that The Trade Winds was the best restaurant in Cobh, Co Cork. I think he was right as we enjoyed on Thursday evening a very fine meal. The scope of the menu is a big attraction with the diner having to pick between many possible succulent dishes... read more

dined here on 17th April 2015.Staff here were trying their best without the guidance of a maître di. Two of our party ordered calves liver as a starter. It came on two mountains of mashed potato, swimming in a pool of flavourless Bisto with 2 slices of tomato perched on top. simply inedible. The barely touched plate was taken away... More

We chanced upon this place having asked several local people where the "best" restaurant in Cobh was. This was truly awful. The place was staffed by teenagers. When a table became clear they sprayed it liberally with 'teepol' so much so that the air was thick with the smell. When we arrived the air was thick with the smell of... More

No service, awful food, what else can I say? The waiter was rude and condescending. This had to be the worst meal we had in Ireland. The beer was good, though. :)

We stopped in here to have a cold drink after a busy day doing all the tourist musts. The bar is small and cosy and we got chatting to the family sitting next to us. After a while, looking at the food coming oiut we decided we would eat here. The food looked and smelled great. We were not disappointed.... More

We arrived late on 10th April after an ordeal we experienced at the foto island resort. We were quickly shown to an upstairs table and we experienced an excellent 2 course meal for less that 30 euro. The soup was especially delicious. Would thoroughly recommend the fish cakes and the seafood pasta.

I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and the service and standard of food is always kept at a high level. You may miss this petite restaurant while walking the main street of Cobh or mistake it for a small bar but once you enter and are pointed upstairs to the restaurant you will find a... More

Anywhere where the Chef catches her own fish just has to be the right place to eat excellent, local, fresh fish. It was! Lovely lunchtime food with dinner quality service. Sandra, the propriorter (I believe) is one of the nicest people we met in beautiful Southern Ireland. And that is saying something as we met so many warm hearted folk.... More
