I stayed in Castletownbere for 1 week in August 2014. The seafood was very delicious! I´ll come back soon and I highly recommend Murphy´s restaurant also for their friendliness and for the excellent service offered. Keep going on like that !!!!

During a hiking trip on the Beara Peninsula in May my wife and I stayed in Castletownbere at the Island House. We had every meal at Murphy's. The chowder and fish were exceptional. My Murphy treated us as if we were family. The restaurant was started by his grandfather and has been run by his family for three generations. Part... More

Too many tables squeezed into a small area. Basic food although mostly reasonable in quality. Unfriendly staff. Not the cleanest restaurant I have ever visited. Overall an okay restaurant if you simply want food without atmosphere but if you want a nice experience go to the Olde Bakery down the road.

We had a punctured tyre so we spent the time waiting for the repair to have some food. We have been to Murphy's before - especially when we have guests who would like a wholesome typical Irish plate and again we were not disappointed (we live not too far too away). Each item was prepared and cooked to perfection. We... More

We stopped here for lunch on a rainy Sunday drive around the Bere Peninsula, and were glad that we did. The place was packed with locals when we arrived, and we were lucky to get a table. The seafood chowder was excellent - a big bowl of broth with assorted fish chunks and prawns, clearly local - accompanied by a... More

Our hostess at our B&B indicated Murphy's as being a good place to eat. That was an understatement! We decided to share the seafood platter because of the variety offered, and we were not disappointed. Each item was prepared and cooked to perfection. Although each table was filled, service was quick and efficient. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, and gladly... More

Brilliant soup! Loved the panini - chicken and stuffing, yum! Always busy so booking ahead is a good idea!

We stopped here for dinner after a tour of the beautiful Ring of Beara!! Unfortunately we got a flat outside of town. Anthony O'Regan of O'Regan's Garage in Castletownbere was a lifesaver and he recommended Murphy's. We were not disappointed!! It is located on the pier and the seafood was nice and fresh. The owner John Murphy stopped by our table.... More

We visited Murphy's on 7 September. We ordered off the special board and had the Pork dinner and the Lamb dinner. Both meals were very good, served hot, and we finished everything. Delicious home cooked meal!! We met the owner, John Murphy, who stopped by our table. He was very friendly and was helpful to our questions. The restaurant was... More
