The prawns were very tasty and the restaurant has a friendly atmosphere. The white fish dinners are excellent.

After a very long morning of driving the Ring of Berea we arrived in Castletownbere hungry, thirsty and a little tired. We couldn't decide which bar/restaurant to try so we decided to visit the closest one to our parking spot. We ended up opposite Murphy's. It's basically a café. There are a collection of wooden tables inside, all serviced by... More

Friendly, delicious food. Busy and full with both travellers and locals. Hake with lemon and herbs was great. Service typically Irish and friendly. Worth every euro.

The crab legs are to die for. Stopped there this afternoon after Mass let out from the local church. The locals piled in while we ordered food. The vegetable soup and BLT was great but the crab legs are succulent. This is a superb hidden gem. The locals made the experience even better. Go here - you won't be disappointed.

Our group of 17 hungry hikers showed up without much warning in this restaurant but we did not cause panic for more than a minute. They accommodated us nicely and the service was great. Rather simple decor inside was almost cafeteria style but the food was out of this world. They offered a lot of specials both meat and seafood.... More

Very helpful staff, food was lovely and plentiful and very reasonably priced. Could have more fish choices on the menu especially as they are situated in a fishing harbour. But I will be returning there again.

We pulled into town late in the evening and this was the only place still serving, and we're glad it was. It doesn't look particularly inviting but the food is excellent - well cooked and with very generous portions. The owner was very friendly and very knowledgable about the local fishing industry. Would definitely come here again.

We had lunch mid week while visiting the beautiful Beara Peninsula. The chowder was wonderful - I have rarely seen so much fish in a bowl of chowder - and my daughter had the spring rolls which were also very good. Murphy's is unpretentious and friendly - it seemed to be mostly full of locals when we were there which... More
