Booking was for the busiest day/weekend in Castletownbere at the last sitting - but the food + service was still excellent + showed no signs of fatigue. The fish + meat dishes were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Service was very pleasant and efficient.

Had the early bird. The brie and fish cakes were good as was the fish and chips. The plaice was outstanding. The lemon merringue left a little to be desired. As adults though, a very good meal offering excellent value for money (17.95 for 2 courses). The kids had the option of the usual choices (fish/nuggets/pasta) but they were not... More

Arrived at 18:59 and they still gave us the early bird menu. Lovely baked hake and no funny looks when I asked for the sauce on the side...

The Olde Bakery has excellent white fish dinners and a very comfortable decor. The wait staff are friendly.

The chef here knows what he/she is doing. The starter and 2 mains (all seafood) we had were excellent. It was reasonably priced too. Would definitely return.

We took a trip into the wild west from our usual base in West Waterford to admire the stunning scenery around the Beara Peninsula and ended up spending the night in Castletownbere. This small town isn't much to shout about as it's mainly a fishing port for large trawlers, however it is a good base to explore the area and... More

A friend and I ate here on a short weekend trip. It was overall very good. I had a prawn starter which I savoured followed by some of the freshest cod I have ever tasted. My friend had a brie starter followed by a steak, which he talked about for some time afterwards. The portions were generous and the service... More

Good food, enough choices on the menu and moderate prices make it a popular place. Their seafood is especially good. They serve variety of beers like anywhere in Ireland but they also serve both white and red wine by glass or by bottle. The service is friendly and rather prompt.

We were recommended this place by the Sea Breeze B&B owner for an excellent place to eat & we weren't disappointed. From the outside it looks like a "run of the mill" eatery but once you step inside, that perception changes. It is tastefully decorated & a good seating lay out. We ate on the early bird menu for 2... More
