This long family owned and run hotel has closed its doors which is really sad. Bantry town has lost its centre for this is what the hotel meant to the residents and guests. Perhaps someone will come to its rescue, we live in hope

Great atmosphere, great music and the only pub in Ireland, that I have been in, that puts a shamrock shape on the pint of Guinness, and it was done by a lady from California

For Father's Day we choose to eat in The Wheelhouse Bar in the Ban try Bay Hotel. Great Menu and lovely fish dishes The food was freshly prepared, big portions and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and attentive. Children are very well catered for and given colouring sheets and crayons to keep them happy..Lovely atmosphere. You aren't rushed here... More

I happened to be eating at the Wheelhouse bar recently as I was a hotel guest. Food excellent and apparently new chef (as told by one of the waitresses) is working his wonder in the kitchen.

This Wheelhouse bar, in the Bantry Bay Hotel, clearly has a new chef. I'm a local resident and have now visited twice in the last few weeks. First went in on a Friday for lunch which was absolutely superb and fantastic value for money. Returned on Saturday night and had a special Valentine's three course meal, again the food and... More

Thanks for a memorable few nights over Christmas in this unique hotel - the bar has great character and with the candles and lanterns lighting it made it a lovely atmosphere. Loved the live music and enjoyed the complementary mulled wine - will be back for more if the music is regular feature. The young staff were helpful and friendly... More

Living locally in Bantry, I compliment the Bantry Bay Hotel and it's chef on a delicious lunch menu - always have a tasty lunch here for really great value & as a fussy eater, it's hard to please me. Also the hotel bar has a fun atmosphere on a night out, with live music and a selection of classy cocktails... More

This is the perfect spot for a nice Irish lunch or good music in the evenings. A nice mix of international tourists and Bantry locals add to the fun.

We where visiting Bantry fro Germany and when we entered the restaurant door, we stood waiting for somebody to guide us to a seat for about 10 minutes, a waitress passed twice and neither smiled at us or told us somebody would be with us shortly. When we were sat we were asked if we would care for a drink.... More
