Driving from Cork to Killarney, we detoured through Bantry for the sole purpose of seeing the statue of St. Brendan in Wolfe Tone Square. (Weird things happen when a Yank named Brendan visits Ireland.) We arrived just before noon and we're looking for something to eat before exploring the square and the rest of this town. The Snug was near... More

On many occasions over the last ten years I’ve had dinner in The Snug after a long day of treking the wilds of West Cork in both winter and summer. The simple but good quality food always satisfied. The portions were always, well in one word, big. I’m glad to report very little has changed. On our whistle stop tour... More

The Snug is the best bar none in Bantry for food. I always go for the roast of the day which is always cooked to perfection and the deserts are absolutely fantastic. The prices are brilliant and You certainly get a big feed for a mighty price

Myself and a friend had dinner here and were extremely put off, and will not return. Our duck was over done, hence dry, when we asked for something we had been waiting on, we were made feel as if we irritated the person we asked….not a nice welcome one would expect.

Snug is the word for it. It's a bit dark and cramped, but cheerful. Salmon and monkfish medallions could not have been fresher. Garlic and butter risked overwhelming but the excellent chive mash soaked them up. Not fine dining or exquisite cooking, but satisfying.

The place is small but it was worth the wait to get a table.. The meal was fresh and generous in the size. The meal was very good and we would recommend it to anyone.
