Wow! I had read that this was the best seafood in Ireland and we were not disappointed. I had the crab claws for an appetizer, the salmon for dinner and a rhubarb pastry for dessert. Everything was exquisitely prepared and delicious. My aunt, who doesn't like seafood, ordered chicken cordon bleu and she loved it. We were at a local... More

We looked at recent reviews and compiled a shortlist. Having had a quick look in the windows we selected Mitchells for Lunch. The restaurant was busy mostly with local people. The lunch menu offered enough choice for the four of us to choose from. The soup and breads to start were perfect. My wife and I had the scampi of... More

We were aware that Mitchell's was popular so we went to the restaurant to book a table for two for the following evening. We wanted to eat at 7 but were told there were no table until 9 and when we pushed we were offered a table at 5.30 which was a bit earlier than we like to eat but... More

This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to in Ireland. Really amazing - I had been trying to find a good monkfish for some time and I finally satisfied my cravings here. Sometimes perhaps the menu tries to be too avant garde or too adventurous, adding in unnecessary flavour combinations that distract rather than enhance,... More

The three-course menu was a real winner. Each dish was delicious, and it felt like a rare treat to eat fish that was so perfectly cooked.

Clifden is a bit if a tourist trap - and I mean that in the nicest possible way. All roads lead here and when this happens, mediocrity or worse can take over. This is evident in many of the restaurants and pubs but not in Mitchell's. We went for dinner and were very lucky to get seated without having a... More

Stopped by today on a whim and had a really tasty lunch for three for less than €40. The fish cakes looked a little forlorn on a large plate and as a main course, they were a little light on quantity and the small salad didn't really make up the gap. Apart from that, no complaints. Soup and Calamari were... More

My husband and I were talking about dinner when I saw Mitchell's; it just looked welcoming and good. We were lucky enough to get the last table as we did not have reservation. The food, the staff, and the atmosphere were all wonderful. We are so glad we stopped there; it was the best dinner of our honeymoon!

We were just passing by and decided to give this place a try. Man, was that a great decision. They were able to sit us without reservations. The food from starters to desert was simply amazing. The service was great. I will return to Clifden just to come to this restaurant.

Although we had to book a table and it was extremely busy it was worth it. We had fish cakes and crab cakes for starters, fish and chips and scampi for main course. It was faultless and some of the best fresh fish we have ever had. Staff are very professional. My 4 year old decided he wanted stew!! He... More
