Good food/drink stop on the way to Charles Fort

I first visited this restaurant and bar over 40 years ago, and it seems to be going better than ever. Its very close to the historic local attraction Charles Fort, and the view was lovely from there Kinsale harbour with its many sail boats looking splendid in the midday sunshine. Great food and friendly service the only slight fault was... More

Been here with friends and partner and although out of the way it's a fab place to visit for food and drinks or as a precursor or post dining to the nearby man friday restaurant. Snug and cosy this is the perfect retreat on a summers night or a winters eve. Don't be put off of the location. You can... More

Historic atmosphere, traditional music, good food, friendly service. We were told to try this restaurant and we're glad we did. While waiting for a table, we sat in the bar and listened to live traditional Irish music. The chicken and mushroom pie was perfect as well as the chicken pasta in an herbed double cream sauce. We also enjoyed the... More

Went by on our way back from Charles Fort and loved the place. Could not get into the 'main bar' area though as it seemed blocked off for locals, but alls well. My wife and i had a fine lunch meal and would go again if in the area. Server Eleash ? was fantastic !

This place is an institution in Kinsale... Get seats out front if you can (though they are not always available) for the views back across to Kinsale. The nook bar with the fire (even in July...) is full of atmosphere. Lovely staff the day we popped in for a drink.

The Spaniard was warm and welcoming on the last night of our week-long stay in Kinsale. A traditional pub with no frills but plenty of atmosphere and very friendly attentive staff. The food portions were enormous, but the quality was also very good. I have a very good appetite, but there was no way that I could finish the cod... More

We had a good enough meal here. It was not busy (when other restaurants in the area were very busy). Pleasant staff.

Called in for a quick lunch. Very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Ok it's not fine dining its a proper pub but I'm not sure I'll eat a better seafood chowder anywhere. Yum!
