My husband and I walked up to the restaurant which sits up on a hill, overlooking Kinsale and the water. It was worth the uphill walk! We had a pint of Guinness and I had the Chicken fingers and he ordered the Fish pie. Both were absolutely delicious. The Bartenders were extremely friendly, asking us about ourselves and our trip... We've gone to the Spaniard for 25 years when visiting Kinsale. It is a landmark. It used to be smokey, but thank goodness not anymore. It is THE place to have a historic drink as this place has been here forever. We did not eat here.

We live up the road from the Spaniard and took some friends here recently. We had a fabulous lunch, lucky enough to get a table outside in the sunshine. Excellent quality and fresh food served by polite and helpful staff. A definite when in Kinsale!

This place is full of character and combines a pub and a restaurant. Some people were here for a pint, some for a meal, and some (like myself) for both! I had hake, lemon meringue and a couple of pints of Smithwicks, costing €32.15 in total. To reach it from Kinsale I walked along the road along the inner part... More

Shared a bit to drink and watched the Kinsale harbor on our way back from Charles Fort. It's at the top of the hill so it's a good stopping point coming and going!
