Bad service

Visited the Dunes Bistro on Saturday, its such a shame that a place in such a beautiful location relies on just that, the location. The service was terrible and food was lukewarm, served in baskets and hot plates so felt like you were eating tapas rather than a meal. I recently went here with my family for lunch on Sunday. Location was perfect and sea views from the windows perfect. The food was lovely and portion sizes truly Irish style - huge. I did get the feeling that the staff were truly overwhelmed. The restaurant was packed so food took quite a while to arrive for each course. Menu... More

This pub restaurant is part of a gorgeous hotel on a spectacular beachfront setting. However very overpriced with a limited menu particularly in the starter category, compared to other area restaurants. Very expensive and food not exciting.

Very nicely designed bar, with a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food portions are massive, so think about sharing a main! The standard of food is good for a pub, and there are lots of options, though it would have been nice to have a normal burger on the menu. Plenty of drinking options too,... More

Very good food with great choice of seafood, as you'd expect. Portions were massive, so don't order too much! Nice coffee too.

Ate here on Saturday....was expecting great things as its associated with a 4* hotel. Greatly disappointed. Sat outside as it was a lovely day.....plagued by wasps so moved tables. Then they 'followed us' so moved indoors. Waited 35 minutes for our lunch - was after the rush hour so wouldn't like to have been there then! Charged €5 for a... More

I am rating Dunes bar as very good because the food was fabulous & the location perfect, however some aspects would only be rated as average. The menu is nice with a great choice & given the surroundings the price is not too bad either. It was busy when we were there but there was plenty of staff, service was a little slow.... More

We had lunch here this week, the staff were lovely, especially the older ladies. It is expensive but the food is lovely and the presentation is superb. It is very noisy and loud due to babies and buggies and children so not for the faint hearted but we have children too so its not as noticeable, you could see older... More

We dined here twice during our hotel stay. The first evening it was very busy so I gave the staff the benefit of the doubt that they were so busy - service lacked. I asked for mayonnaise and it came out when my meal was finished!!! The second evening was a lot quieter and still the service lacked. It appeared... More

This restaurant came highly recommended, no surprise that it was very busy even on a Monday evening. Although this July visit was during the best summer tourist season, the wait time for a table was long. They do not take reservations, so what to do? enjoy the fabulous scenery of the sandy beach and warm weather (even for Ireland). The... More
